Ritz Carlton Laguna Wedding

When a couple has each been married before and then find each other (some of the stories how are very very interesting, fate steps in for sure) and they know that this is the one for them for life, sometimes we are lucky enough to bear witness to that through how they treat each other, these two were so lovely together and i kept saying to my assistant that day, how lucky is she to have this man that just wants to take care of her in every way/make her life easy for her.  How they are as people also is obvious in how each of their children, 2 each, his older and her’s younger, there was no drama or silliness from the kids, the family had blended well.  So here we were now at the Ritz Laguna where an intimate group of family and friends, around 70, came together to celebrate these two and their families becoming one.

As we got the planning going Erika said how much she would love to do the dinner outside, and i said, we have done it before, no reason why we can’t do it for you.  So the ceremony was on Monarch Bay Sunset Lawn, cocktails on Plaza Balcony, dinner on Monarch Bay Sunset Terrace with everyone at long tables and our B&G at a sheart table, and then we lead everyone inside Plaza Room for the cake cutting and dancing where they hung out inside or on the balcony where we had the curved benches with the best array of pillows/cushions any of my brides have done yet!!

Erika knew the color she wanted, eggplant purple with silver and hot pink, and for the ceremony floral setup at the front she had an inspiration picture she had and that feel carried on through the whole event.  I have used the Plaza Room as a party room before but never put the 24′ round dancefloor in there, it worked perfectly and we also got the tall chairs (from Chiavari Chair Rentals along with benches & coffee tables we had in the party room) to go with the tall cocktail tables in there so guests were not stuck standing at those tables if they did not want to be.  All in all, the color palette and vibe of the event was stunning.  Thanks Frank for the photos above, video that day was by The Emotion Picture Studio, Dr Brian Trott officiated (they can issue the CA marriage license also which is a bonus), Design Visage dolled all the ladies up, Flowers by Cina brought Erika’s inspiration picture and vision to life, Jeff/Moondance Mobile Music provided music in all areas, Luxe linens provided the linens&napkins, and TMMPRO provided the lighting around the outdoor dining area/dining table chairs/dancefloor&decal, and draping inside the Plaza Room which always totally transforms it.  Erika loved how the Plaza Room turned out so much she didn’t want to leave it after seeing it before joining the guests at cocktails, she said we could find her in there all night just enjoying the beauty we created.

And, that wasn’t the end of my working with them, a few weeks before the wedding, Jon reached out to me, their honeymoon plans had to change, I can’t remember why, something was going on where they were going and suddenly they needed a new destination, so Sandals it was for them.  I sent them to my favourite resort in St Lucia where they had a lovely private room with a serene view of trees and the ocea n and a soaking tub on their balcony, guess it all set a great mood because they came home pregnant!!

Ritz Carlton 25th Wedding Anniversary

What an elegant beautiful couple, inside and out, and family/families/friends.  They went all out to celebrate their 25th paying for everyone to fly in from all over the country to Dana Point and stay at the Ritz-Carlton.  100% Destination Wedding Celebration.

The night prior there was a fun party on a yacht for dinner/socializing while cruising around Newport Harbor, bussing everyone to/from the hotel.

Then on the day everything Wendy and i had facetimed on, talked about, planned, became a reality and she/they were thrilled.  This was just a pleasure to be involved in.

We had the perfect vendor team of course: Frank Salas/Photographer – thanks for the pics above, Design Visage got all the ladies even more beautiful, White Doves/White Flite, were released at the end of the ceremony which was officiated by a cousin, Naples Strings provided by ceremony/cocktail music and then Peter/Vive Entertainment took over inside the Plaza Room for the dinner/dancing portion.  Dancefloor/draping/chairs/chargers were all by Chiavari Chair Rentals, and Square Root of course did the most beautiful florals, ivory linen underlays, and provided a cool dj façade to hide Peter behind, lol.  Luxe Linens provided the most beautiful overlays we had on each dining table and Lounge Appeal did the furniture setup on Plaza Balcony, which totally reflected the elegance of Wendy.  Everything was soft and beautiful.  Thanks to our team mates at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna, we hit it out of the park every time together, xoxoxxo

Ritz Carlton Terrace Salon wedding

I loved Sally’s ideas for her wedding and she had a friend who did florals and could bring her vision to life.  She had low hedges at the last row of chairs at the ceremony which looked really good on the grass, lanterns going up the aisle and beautiful vases/florals that were used inside beside the B&G sofa, and some lovely big round hedge balls at the front of the ceremony!!  In the ballroom the centerpieces varied by table, led lit up crystal vases or chandeliers inside acrylic boxes for the centerpieces.  Very effective

The flowers were really pretty, look at that hydrangea above and also what he did in the goblets/candle holders with the roses!!

We had a 100 white dove release by White Flite who i always use, after they were pronounced man and wife at the ceremony, much to the surprise and wows of the guests.  We had traditional drummers and dancers lead the bride and groom into the ballroom and do a performance and get the dancing going before dinner!! Love that for good energy at a wedding.   And thanks to the rest of the vendor team for as always making my job smooth, Joe Latter Photographer (think all the photos above are mine, he sent me his but i can’t find them and wanted to get this blog out!!), The Emotion Picture Studio for video, Peter/Vive Ent for the cere/cocktail/dinner/dancing music and TMMPRO for the dancefloor and chiavari chairs.  And always last but never the least, my family/team at the Ritz-Carlton, together we make people’s dreams come true. xoxoxo

Another intimate Ritz Laguna wedding

Tina and Steve picked the Monday of Thanksgiving week to have their intimate wedding so the families could also be together for Thanksgiving and make a vacation of it here in S CA.  Smart cookies.  Originally they had booked the Private Dining Room to have dinner after the ceremony, then as we got talking they realized they may want to dance/spend timing moving around and not stuck at a table, so we moved to the Plaza Room and balcony.

Tina loves blue and the ocean, so no flowers, it was about seafoam chiffon flowing in the wind like ocean waves coming onto the shore, and along the center of the table were containers that had candles/starfish/coral etc in them and we enhanced with blue uplights.

We added bistro lights and benches to the balcony of Plaza Room where the bar would stay and people spent the whole evening going in and out, hearing the waves crashing on the beach, feeling that wonderful fresh air.  As it gets darker that time of year, we did a mid afternoon ceremony and we were all done by 10pm, wow, home by 11pm to watch WWHL on a Monday after a wedding, i could do that every day of the week!!   Love it when i can keep my vendor peeps busy on a week day/night – thanks to Tony Florez photo, Paul Uhlar/officiating with that lovely voice of his, Design Visage for prettying the ladies up, Karens Flowers (no insta or website) and Jeff/Moondance Mobile music for the music/djing/mceeing as we needed it throughout the event, and TMMPRO for the rental chairs/lighting/benches, and of course to the ladies & gentlemen at the Ritz-Carlton for always helping us make intimate weddings feel just as important/special as big events.

Ritz-Carlton Laguna Monarch Bay/Plaza Room wedding

We love a Monday wedding, not only do we get to work on a day we normally would not be, but generally speaking, the wedding couple and guests feel like they are the only thing going on in the pm or at the hotel, it’s wonderful!!

Linda loved acrylic, so take a look, we had rental chairs one style for the ceremony and a different style in the Plaza Room, bravo Linda!!  They found their photographer Davello Photography and very nice he was, Grace Lin did the hair and makeup, always good to see her, EBD Floral did the beautiful florals/brought the vision to life as always, and… this was the first time i had done the ground sparkler cans which we used for their exit, it involved paying for a permit and a fireperson to be there to oversee, but the guests loved it.  Thanks to the Ritz-Carlton Laguna as always for everything xoxox

In case you are wondering about the bottom pic, well that is me with Jack who owns TMMPRO where i get my dancefloors/decals, chairs/B&G sofas, lighting, draping, mirror tables etc through and i normally don’t get to see him as he is a very successful dj in the Asian community and normally not available when i ask, but being a Monday, he was available and he did the rentals and all the music for me on this one, that was fun!!

Ritz Laguna Wedding

This was one of the first weddings after the astroturf was put down on Monarch Bay Sunset Lawn.  Looks awesome and all the questions about ladies heels and the grass stopped, yayy, lol.

Santa Barbara – Ritz-Carlton wedding

I love being a part of the Ritz-Carlton family when it comes to weddings!!  This is my 5th Ritz property i have done a wedding at, and in 2020 i will be adding my 6th property, for a bit i thought i may be adding my 7th this year but alas not quite yet!! lol

Amanda and Jordan really lucked out (and they were just the sweetest BTW), when they booked the property was not a Ritz, but during the process it became a Ritz, so they got all the benefits of a 5 star brand but were contracted based on the previous owner/rates etc, yay for them, lol.

So we did the ceremony at the upper site which gives such a great backdrop of the sweeping coastline, pic above

The iconic round room, we did transitioned from outdoor dining/toasts, to the guests gathering around them in the mid area cutting cake and saying their words, then flowed into the dance room where of course we did my fave round dancefloor, Amanda wanted the ceiling draped from the beginning, and lighting all done by my TMMPRO pals.

The balcony with the furniture was off the dancing room and this is where we had the Photobooth.  Very popular area for people to hang out at and see in to the dancing room and not feel like they were missing out on anything

Cocktails were on the balcony up by the main building, under where the dinner/dance would be.  Still had an ocean view which was lovely.

The team at Ritz-Carlton Santa Barbara were a dream to work with, and now they are headed by my long time hotel friend Fernanda Jaime (started with her at Ritz Laguna and have now been through 3 hotels with her, yayyy), and we had a great vendor team, Duke (obviously the dark pics above are mine not his), Hoos Films for video, and my partners that go with me wherever i go, Design Visage for the ladies hair/makeup, Flowers by Cina, and Peter Pop/Vive Ent for the music in all areas and kept that dancefloor full once we got in that awesome loungy room. xoxoxo

Ritz Laguna Destination wedding

You know i love an intimate wedding celebration, right??!!  Well i do, you may spend to have 30 guests as 70, but boy those guests get such a wonderful wedding celebration when it comes to venue and food experience, they will always refer back to your wedding!!  I suggested to Machelle that we do the ceremony seating in one row curved to the front which would make everyone feel wanted/inclusive, worked out great didn’t it!!

They sat at a guest table with guests, so we put them by the fireplace and spread everyone out amongst four tables, we could have done a royal table for all, but they preferred to do the groupings and it looked great.

We had an awesome vendor team on board for them, Barnet Photography (my pics are the bad ones above lol), video/Luxury Lifestyle Studio, Flawless Faces for hair/makeup, Peter/Vive Entertainment for all the music, and my good friends at Square Root for the floral and rentals.  Paul Uhlar did the ceremony with his wonderful calming voice and all the right words with the little bit of humor he does towards the end perfectly that breaks all the ice before the formal introduction.  And of course, our fab everyone at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna where we have been honored to do weddings for the past 19 years!!

Till next time

Beautiful Ritz Laguna wedding/beautiful bride

I have such fondness for lovely Jessica and her whole family.  We started the process of wedding planning and then she found out she was pregnant, so before we had the ‘pretty’ wedding they got married in an intimate wedding and then came baby Isabella, and now through instragram I get to see Isabella growing up (and sooooo fast and now a baby sister has been added to this cute family).  Isabella came to my office as a newby and we would put her carrier under my glass table so we could keep an eye on her sleeping while we worked above, then she started staying awake and Grandma would need to pick her up and keep her occupied, to them my turn at the floral mockup where i kept Bella occupied so our bride and mom could really focus on flowers, lol, and then she was a flower girl at the wedding.  Jessica and her mom were just the loveliest to work with and the wedding reflected the beauty and grace that is Jessica.

I got her vision right off the bat and knew exactly who could make her wedding dreams come true, so thanks to Melissa and the team at Flowers by Cina, TMMPRO for the rentals, and to Peter/Vive Ent who provided all the music we needed in all the areas, and of course to our family at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel xoxoxo

Beautiful wedding for a sweet bride

What a joy Ina was to work with, Frank Salas (thanks for the photos), Flowers By Cina and I kept saying how lucky we were to each other.

I always use TMMPRO for the dancefloor/chairs/lighting but this time we even had Jack himself as the dj, love it.

Another Sunset Terrace and Plaza beautiful intimate celebration, xoxoxox
