Cathy’s wedding was my first for 2015 and she got such a beautiful day in January and look at her ceremony backdrop, awesome.  They were planning everything from Washington DC, so you can imagine how happy they and everyone were to leave cold/snowy east coast and enjoy our everyday sunny/warm weather, no matter what time of year, lol.

Cathy had an idea for how she wanted the table setup in Plaza Room, but guest count had to be at a certain level for it to work, she finally got there and we were able to make it work and it turned out great.  We had fun pulling her vendor team together and the vision, and it was a great celebration.  Thanks to my vendor peeps: Father Brian, Design Visage for beautifying the lovely ladies, Keith Lavery/floral designer who got it and made it happen, Naples Strings/cere&cocktails, my fave band who always work with the little space they are sometimes given to setup and play in and in this setup the guests danced on the other side of the table from them, Full Spectrum/Adam, muah!!! Monico Décor for the rentals, Tony Florez for always being so easy to get along with, and to my peeps at the Ritz who have been my work family for the past 15 years and make 5 star events happen easily.

Here’s a fun wedding we did this year.  Black/white/feathers were the priorities for the reception, and letting the ocean backdrop shine for the ceremony.  All easy to do when you pick a beautiful location such as the Ritz-Carlton Laguna to have your celebration at.

Thanks to Tony Florez for the pics, Elegant by Design/Karla for bringing the floral look to reality, Design Visage for enhancing everyone’s beauty, Jeff/Moondance Dj, Chiavari Chair Rentals and Monico Décor for the rentals, and as always, our friends at the Ritz for always helping us pull off a five star celebration.

Plaza Room, Ritz-Carlton Laguna wedding

IMG_0974 IMG_0977 photo 2

Well not sure what happened here, but neither the floral designer or I got pics of the cere site, and there was a great candy table setup by Candee by Sandee that I had pics of, but I can’t find them, so annoying.  But the photos above and below give you an idea of the pop of color our lovely bride Shannon went with which was a good way to start the year as the rest of the year seemed full of more lighter palettes.  Don’t you love the color of the peonies below, they were gorgeous.

Thanks to another great vendor team that Shannon let me guide her to to ensure a great celebration.  Keith Laverty/floral designer, Design Visage for ensuring our bride looked fab from beginning t end.  Monico Décor for all the rentals.  And of course the awesome team at the Ritz-Carlton that I have had the honor of working with for 15 years now.  Love love love

Ritz-Carlton Laguna wedding

I am so fortunate that for 15 years I have had the honor of looking at this backdrop for so many weddings.  For many brides like Kelsey they live out of state or out of the country and they choose this spot out of the whole world for many reasons, so a lot of trust is put into me and our relationship.

Our bride wanted her ceremony on the grass, so we moved from the normal Terrace area to the grass next door, cocktails were held on the balcony, and the dining/dancing/socializing was done in the Plaza Room and on the balcony, giving the guests from all over the world the view that reinforced to them why the B&G chose this location out of all the world, and that they spent their money/time wisely to come and experience how special this is.

Her vendor team is one of my favourites, we all know each other and everyone comes and does their job 120% to ensure all goes as planned.  So a big thanks to: The ladies and gentlemen of the Ritz-Carlton of course, upstairs and downstairs. Larry Crandall/photographer, bit thanks for the pics showing here.  Design Visage for beautifying everyone as always.  Newport Bay Productions/video, Paul Uhlar/officiant, Naples Strings, Bill/dj. Monico décor for the rentals, and to White Flite for our dove release, I always love the moment that the guests realize what is happening and hearing the oohs and aaahs.

Ritz Carlton Laguna fabulous

Well, this picture really doesn’t say it all, it was pretty windy that day, gave Keith Laverty a run for his money in setting up the chuppa and the florals, but as always, it all worked out.

This was a destination wedding with pretty much all guests coming in from Texas or other areas, so it was a multi day event.  We did a fun buy out of a fun restaurant in Laguna for the prior night and bussed everyone there, then had this great celebration to follow the next day.  Here you get to see the grooms cake, any guess what he does?? Thanks to the team Kim and I created, Joe Latter photographer, Keith Laverty floral, Monico Design/rentals, Shane Productions/video, Hailey and the team at the Ritz Laguna. My beautiful bride (a Sandra Bullock look alike) has her hair and makeup done often for events in Texas and around the world she goes to, and she loved what Design Visage did, said it was the best she has ever looked for the pre-wedding event, in fact so happy, she had her celebrity artist she had hired, do others not her, and had DV do her again.   With the Dom flowing pre ceremony until the end, the band the bride had to have, great food and these views, oh and throw in a late night delivery of In N out /taste of CA, a wonderful celebration/time was had by all.

Ritz-Carlton Laguna, Sunset Terrace/Plaza wedding

167H0824

For the past 14 years this has been the room/area I have done the most weddings in, in fact so many we have joked it should be called ‘Lisa’s Plaza Room’.  I just love it, very hard to beat the combination of intimacy, ocean backdrop and 5 star service, with hotel rooms also.

Here is another fun, wonderful couple I had the real pleasure of helping plan their wedding celebration.  Our groom had a wicked sense of humor and my beautiful bride is from Europe and they are going to have one fabulous life together.  They go between their home in one of the beach communities here to the hot Arizona area where his business is based, so pleased they chose here for this celebration.  Thanks also to the wonderful team they let me guide them towards, Karla/EBD Florals, Shane Productions/video, Design Visage for enhancing my brides natural beauty and the other ladies, Steve Burdick/dj, Essence Ent/Guitar for ceremony&cocktails, Monico Decor for the rentals, and Tony Florez, as always so easy to work with and thanks for the photos, last but by no means least, our always wonderful team at the Ritz, love you all.

Ritz-Carlton Laguna, Sunset Terrace/Plaza wedding

FabiaWed_0818-XL[1]

Fabia wanted an intimate celebration with an ocean view and wanted the feel of the ocean to be a part of the floral design/feel.  So the Ritz Carlton’s Plaza was the perfect location and Karla/EBD floral Design pulled the feel together perfectly, the ceremony site was just lovely.  Fabia was thrilled.  Thanks to my vendor friends who made up the team to ensure a great celebration for this fun couple.  Andrena of Andrena photography (and thanks for the photos below/above), Marc of The Emotion Picture Studio/video, Larson Lighting, Naples Chamber music for great cere and cocktail music as always.  Brent Edwards for a lovely wedding ceremony, and my A1 guy Peter/Vive Ent for the great music/environment/good time he created inside.  The B&G were loving the music so much they and one other couple danced alone, everyone else was gone, for the last hour of the event.  They were having a great time

Plaza Room Ritz Carlton Dana Point

I love this location and room, and am fortunate to be chosen to assist many couples each year to celebrate here.  They are never the same as this layout in the Plaza Room shows.  When you are 36 or less guests you can get a little creative, normally it is one royal dining table or a U’shape with guests all around, pics you will see as the season progresses, but for this one the style was two long tables in an L-shape and an ocean theme (which meant the hotels banquet chairs could also be used).  It turned out great and I always love how the look changes from when we start earlier in the day prior to sunset and then during the dinner when the candles/night light create the romantic ambiance you don’t get in daylight.

Thanks to Katie Clark (www.kcpstudios.com) for these pics:

I love the L-shape idea and look forward to doing it again but this time joining the tables and seeing how that looks, anyone willing to try/let me do it with you??!!

Many looks to the Plaza Room, 2011

Well, this spot at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel/Dana Point is still hard to beat if you are looking for ocean/5 stars/intimacy – here are just some of the many looks my lovely brides chose for this wonderful location:

Thanks www.tonyflorez.com for the photo above, florals were by the fabulous Square Root, both vendors always fab to work with & have on the team.

T

The above pics were courtesy of the dj/Steve Shanahan using his Iphone. I can’t say I have ever seen a photographer do a pano of this room like this, so dark, but love it.  The brides inspiration for this look was a photo on my office wall from a previous wedding, she loved the airy feel of the tall calla lillies.  We used the hotels black linens and brought in black chivaris which looked so elegant and then gave a pop by doing the fabulous black & white pattern napkin, lots of candles together with the fireplace being on, voila, a fabulous look.  Then look below, same room but earlier in the day, so you can really see the detail, these photos courtesy of my lovely bride, and guess what, she never got any photos by her photographer inside the room with the fireplace on/that atmosphere before people came in, so I was able to forward her over the djs pics so she had those to enjoy/remember how fab it looked.

What a soft fresh feel/look, the photo above, courtesy of www.jamesjohnsonphotography.com, was a daytime wedding, and when you walked in it just looked pretty, soft, fresh, and made you smile.  Exactly a reflection of how this bride was and how she made everyone feel around her.

For the above wedding (pic courtesy of wonderful www.tonyflorez.com) the bride went with a really nice rich red linen with black runners and napkins, some tall centerpieces and some low.  Very dramatic when you walked in.  A great reflection of them, comfortable and warm.  We used a red uplight in each corner, when you have a strong color in the room you can do that to add a pop/further enhance, but in a smaller room you want to be careful it’s not too much.  We use amber a lot to continue the warmth/feel from the fireplace and candles, otherwise the bride’s ‘color’ if she wants that to be enforced.  During dinner just outside the room in the foyer, we setup the EPOD photo booth (it talks to the guests and it’s words match the guests, when they are sober it’s nice and normal, the more tipsy they get and funny/amorous, the more the words comment on what they are doing, it’s hilarious.

My bride for the above wedding wanted her color/theme to be Tiffany Blue  but she was a lovely elegant woman and I knew we had to watch how much we used the color and where.  It’s a hard color for flowers so we stuck with champagnes/ivory/blushes which is a very romantic palette,  Instead of chivaris we covered the hotels chairs which gave a rich/romantic feel along with crystals and candles.  It was a warm/loving feel in the Plaza which was a total reflection of the couple and not only how they felt about each other, but also the intimate group that had been invited/had come from afar to celebrate with them.  Thanks to www.franksalas.com for the pics and always being just a pleasure to work with, we love him, plus of course, Nisies Enchanted Florist for the beautiful signature look of her florals/style (I knew from the moment my bride and I started talking and working on budget, we must have Nisie). Cere/cocktail music by my fave string group Naples, and dinner/dancing by fab Jeff Holmes/Moondance.  Hair/makeup by Design Visage, and a dove release by wonderful Pam with White Flite, always a successful timely release that has everyone wowed.  For the favors we went to Luisa Chocolatiere based in Laguna Hills, she got the boxes from Italy and inside had made 2 swans (the brides favorite icon for the wedding, because swans mate for life!!), one was dark chocolate with raspberry filling-the brides fave, and for the groom – got to  love it – milk chocolate with tequila inside and sea salt on the outside, yum. I had to do the final taste test due to B&G being in Texas, and it was a chore, but I okayed the end result!!! LOL. Inside the box was a note saying whose chocolate was whose fave and the description.  Nicely done as always Luisa.

My couple from above came with all their guests from Sacramento to celebrate.  A nice change to see a bold color in this room this year.  Thanks to Katie Clark for the above pics, and always being fun to work with. Alicia booked me for Month of service, but used my preferred vendor list in her planning and my advise during her planning months (two) and ended up with a great team and didn’t spend a fortune, but made it look/feel like she did.

The above wedding (thanks for the pics Nancy/bride) was so soft and pretty, no wonder it was published on Style me Pretty.  The end result was well worth the pain we went through to get the florals right on the day.  6 tables, 3 different style of centerpieces and the ceremony was angled giving a straight aisle, rather than the flat to the ocean positioning most couples choose for this site.  All these tweaks made this wedding theirs.  The wonderful Peter Papadopolous/Vive Ent, was our dj and mcee and as always a pleasure.

These weren’t all the weddings we did in the Plaza, but gives you a good feel for how that room works no matter what your colors/feel/theme, as this is a nice variation of looks/styles/florals/colors for you to see.

Till next time

Ritz-Carlton Laguna Wedding – Elegant

Well the pictures that follow are the end result of the vision of the bride, and my tweaking to ensure she got the optimum end result, and that her guests experienced a fabulous celebration.  I said that because, I was booked for  Month Of service so when the bride and I sat down to see what she had been doing (and she had been very busy) I could see some things that were not logistically going to work, and that she had options she had not thought of, and I also saw dollars that had been spent that if I had been in from the beginning would have been saved-as she was contracted and would not get what she had deposited back, this part was better left alone to cause less stress.  So needless to say, at the end of the meeting she was a bit overwhelmed and frustrated because the vendors she had been working with had been okaying things/planning with her, but not one had taken any other element/item/component of the celebration into account.  If they were each intruments in an orchestra they would not have been playing anything that made sense or sounded good on the day.  Thus the need for the conductor/me.  For any friends/family that my lovely bride knows who are getting married from here on out, she says she will be advising them to get me/someone from the get-go.

Anyway, the end result was the Plaza Room was set in an unusual way with a mix of square and round tables, and the cake was centered to the foyer doors as that was where the guests entered in from.  In order to make this set work, the dancefloor was small but enough for this intimate celebration.  As you can see from the photos below her taste was exquisite and the most beautiful, elegant celebration was enjoyed by those lucky enough to be included.

Thanks to my lovely bride for utilizing my preferred vendor list and choosing  – Jeff/Moondance for the mcee/dinner/dancing music, and Nisie’s Enchanted Florist for her as always elegant floral design (and thanks Nisie for the wonderful photos below).

Till next time
