Beautiful wedding for a sweet bride

What a joy Ina was to work with, Frank Salas (thanks for the photos), Flowers By Cina and I kept saying how lucky we were to each other.

I always use TMMPRO for the dancefloor/chairs/lighting but this time we even had Jack himself as the dj, love it.

Another Sunset Terrace and Plaza beautiful intimate celebration, xoxoxox

Till next time

Beautiful couple and beautiful Ritz wedding

Working with Erika and David over the past year was just a joy.  Very busy couple with kids going here and there and travelling and busy with work, so sometimes wedding planning halted and then we would get going again.  That is the beauty of how I work, I could pull your wedding together in a week, but for most brides that would freak them out, so anytime longer than that means you can halt anytime you want/need to  and there is no panic/pressure from me!!!

Erika had inspiration pics that she pretty much stuck to through the process and they were very much a reflection of her, soft, lovely and in love with love

All the tables had these lovely floorlength linen overlays and we did not use the Ritz baseplates (2 to choose from) this year my brides are loving these new chargers I get through one of my vendors.

The furniture setting on the balcony was actually copied from a wedding they had gone to, but we added florals to the wrought iron and Erika provided the rug which means when she sees it at home it will remind her of her wedding, love that

In 16 years of doing weddings in the Plaza Room no one ever brought up the idea of draping the whole room, but over the years I had brides who wanted to cover paintings in there so we had been creative with draping particular areas, placing trees and placing something on the mantle to cover the fireplace picture, but draping the whole room, hmmmmm. So when Erika said lets do it, I was excited to see the outcome, and it was

l

beautiful, and now all my brides are doing it.  It totally transforms the room and makes it soft and romantic and elegant, intimate and I think it makes the room feel a bit bigger.

We had an awesome candy table setup in the foyer during dinner and guests made to go bags or grabbed some to eat later in the evening when they felt the need.

I love it when a bride lets me guide them to the perfect team for them for their vision/style and budget, and when I say budget, anytime you look at the pics from my couples weddings, whatever you think they may have spent, in reality they probably spent less because I know the right people out there.  Our awesome vendor team on this wedding was: Frank Salas for the pics above and some were mine, Design Visage for the beautifying of all the ladies, Elegant by Design/florals, Chiavari chair rentals, TMMPRO, The Sugar Philosophers, Peter/Vive Ent, Naples Strings, White Flite Dove Release, and my fave Rabbi, Rabbi Ian!! And of course the wonderful ladies and gentlemen at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel xooxoxo

Ritz/Laguna, Sunset Terrace & Plaza Room

0107  0110

Just so hard to beat, this beautiful backdrop to a ceremony, with a 5 star/5 diamond hotel attached and a wonderful intimate room/balcony to have your lunch or dinner and dancing celebration.

0123 0124

A lot of my couples take advantage of the private beach cart/driver for a fee to head down to the beach and get some pics down there.

0125 0129

Great shots by Joe Latter above, I have to say Joe you are the first I know of to do the shot above with the B&G in the window, kudos to you.

0136 0146

A lot of couples want just one more practice of their first dance, so of course we sneak them in.

0148

Tammy wanted an intimate/gardeny feel and only low centerpieces, great job Karla/Elegant by Design the flowers were lovely.  We also went white chiavaris (which could be my favourite) and white dancefloor to offset the creamy/ivory hotel table linens.  The room really had a lovely feel.  We pulled together a great cohesive vendor team to ensure their day went well and they were looking forward to working with everyone. Elysium Video, OCASV lighting, Noemi/Posh Beauty, Jeff Holmes/Moondance Mobile Music- kept that dancefloor full, Monico Décor/rentals, and of course without them none of this is possible, the awesome ladies and gentlemen at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna.

Plaza Room-no dancing, Ritz Laguna

IMG_0015

Erin and David were just wanting an intimate daytime celebration of their getting married with close friends/family, great location, excellent food/service, then when it was over everyone got comfortable and went/did what they wanted to for the rest of the afternoon/evening.

IMG_0036 IMG_0038 IMG_0040

These pics show that you can spread out and have a lovely event, no dancefloor needed, thanks to Frank Salas for these pics and for being a gem.  To Design Visage for beautifying the ladies, to Karla/EBD florals for as always getting the vision and making it happen, the florals/vases were beautiful, Monico Décor for the benches on the balcony which were well used and the other rentals, and to Jeff/Moondance Music for handling the ceremony music and providing great luncheon/socializing background music.  We did a bouquet toss where the bride was on the balcony and the girls at the balcony doors, that wonderful Pacific ocean made a great backdrop for those pics.  To keep it intimate Uncle Edward officiated the ceremony.  A really lovely celebration for a lovely couple for sure!!

Ritz-Carlton, Laguna, Sunset Terrace & Plaza

Had the best time helping this couple pull this celebration together. They were bringing everyone (27 people) from Montreal/Canada to S CA for a family vacation and had a full itinerary of all the normal touristy things to be doing, and threw in a wedding celebration to top it off.

Martin, my lovely groom, comes to the OC for business quite often so we met a few times when he was here and would get his lovely bride Maude on the phone, and get things done that way. Maude did not speak english that well so Martin was a great help/translator at times. We did have some long phone chats with me here and both of them in Canada and inspiration photos etc going back and forth over email, gotta love technology.

In the beginning Martin was thinking Jazz style music for the dining room/after dinner vibe but couldn’t commit to it, after a few months I took the bull by the horns and suggested my fave band who were going to cost more than a jazz trio etc and be a different style of music (more broad spectrum), but would ‘make’ the celebration. He was unsure/took a bit of convincing and finally went for it. Actually in the end had 2 of the 5 piece band handle the ceremony and cocktails, and of course the 5 piece play during dinner and then………………..they got the party started. From the 1st song after dinner until the end of the event all 22 adults were up dancing non-stop or only stopping for the odd song to get some cool air, drink, bathroom break etc. My lovely Martin gave me the thumbs up at one point while he was dancing and mouthed to me ‘they are great’, and after their last song/dance, Martin came and hugged me and sobbed how fabulous the band was and this was the best night of his life. I was so touched. I knew it and was so pleased that any expectations he had had been exceeded and any concerns he may have had had been dispelled. Sometimes we really forget how much trust you couples are really putting into a bunch of strangers for the most important get together/meal/party of your lives so far.

They were thrilled when I told them that for a group their size we could get everyone at one dining style table in the Plaza Room, which I love being able to do. Maude wanted a clean/modern look for the table itself and these pictures don’t really do it justice as to how really pretty/elegant it looked, but the funny thing is, the dining table pics have been the most liked on my instagram and repinned on my Pinterest than other grand/full looking weddings I have posted recently. I wonder what that says??!!

Thanks to Tony Florez (www.tonyflorez.com) for the pics below and for always being so calm/easy to work with on a wedding day, to Shane Productions/Kimberly for doing the video (again so easy to work with, love referring and working with her), Paul Uhlar for officiating another ceremony in his articulate/humourous way, Fusion for the furniture & linens, Full Spectrum, my fave band for many years now. Design Visage for enhancing Maude’s beauty, without a preview too!!! Karen Donovan/Karen’s Flowers for making it easy for Maude to have a comfort level from one country to another that her vision was going to be the end result. And last but not least, to the team at the Ritz-Carlton Dana Point, love love love you all, nothing more to be said.

Plaza Room, Ritz-Carlton, Dana Point

Another location/room that I am fortunate to be known as the co-ordinator that does the most weddings in/at.
For the past 12 years I have done groups of as few as 15 and maxing the Plaza room with 74, all different looks/styles/visions
/feel, but the constant that ties everyone together is the backdrop for the ceremony and cocktails, that beautiful Pacific ocean – whether it is a grey day, sunny day, ocean is smooth or rough, it is always a stunning backdrop. Then into the Plaza Room everyone goes and it feels like someones beautiful dining room, fireplace/chandelier, not stuffy/formal, just warm and intimate, and …….. access to the balcony to keep popping out and looking at that view.

With Robin’s wedding, we had a merging of families and an intimate group invited and she wanted to have everyone feel important to them, so I reverted to a table style I have done a few times in the Plaza, the U-shape with people on each side all the way around, so everyone is at the same table. I think you will agree it looks romantic, elegant, and special. We had a pianist provide the dinner/socialising music in Plaza Room using the hotels grand piano and that completed the atmosphere of romance/elegance/special. A really lovely celebration.

Robin, used all my vendor suggestions but had her own florist and he did a really lovely job and was very nice to work with. Thanks to Karen French for as always being a pleasure to refer to my brides and to work with on the day, and for the pics above.
http://www.karenfrenchphotography.com Of course, the wonderful team at the Ritz-Carlton upstairs and downstairs, who are a joy to work with and give each wedding the service/attention on the day that you would expect/deserve at a five star/five diamond property.

Ritz-Carlton Laguna wedding

Each year I have a couple who are looking for something different than a hotel wedding celebration, yet when I am walking/talking them through what they believe they want/are looking for for their guests to experience, I always come back to the same thing, the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel has what they are looking for, they just don’t realise it.

This couple and all the guest came from NY.  I did not realise before we got going that they had actually come over and looked at every hotel/location (including the Ritz) they could think of but not found what they wanted, so thus when they got home the mother of the groom decided they needed help as they knew they wanted the wedding here on the West Coast.

Mom called me (found me on line), we chatted, they wanted exclusive, maybe an estate (I then explained to her the possible pitfalls of going that route), all outdoors (we have a 10pm outside noise ordinance in most places so that can mean relocating the rest of the party/more expense etc) and their group size could be 120ish.  After chatting, she had the groom  call me, we chatted, and then the process began.  I started sourcing ideas/websites for them to look at for estates (a lot they had found on their own, others they had not, some I had more info on which they were not aware of), but always in my mind, this couple was looking for a 5 star celebration with the reason why they had everyone coming across the country to celebrate obvious, and that is the Pacific Ocean right below the Ritz-Carlton, Dana Point.  They came out on a site visit and we visited 4 estates in the SD area, all very unique and fabulous, and one on the top of the hills of Laguna Beach – this one was perfect – a home lived in by a family that I did not feel could be in need of helping to pay the mortgage, it was italian/grand and the view was unbelievable.  Very special is the best way to describe it.  The owner was a very gracious lady who did not do weddings or allow just anyone to come and look at her home, she does a few fundraising benefits with celebrities per year (I had a contact who suggested I contact her, tell her a bit about myself and  my client and maybe she would make an exception).  She had, and we were now there looking and loving it.  The site fee was huge but could still work with our budget and for exclusivity there is a price.    At the end of the day at Sunset time (planned or not, what do you think!!!??) we stopped by the Ritz.  I took them to the Sunset Terrace where the ceremony would be with the ocean glimmering beyond, and then had them open their minds to using this space differently to how it normally is sold.  Ceremony on the cliff, cocktails on the balcony of the Plaza Room (all normal so far), but as their guest count was too high for all to be sat for dining inside the Plaza Room and that feel was not for them, we walked into the courtyard and talked about this being the dining area – it’s sheltered, feels like being in the courtyard/open area of a mansion, use lots of candles along with the greenery in place to give the feeling of romance/elegance, and then lead everyone to the party room where it’s all about the dancing/partying/socialising.

They decided there were pros and cons with the Laguna mansion – we had to shuttle everyone up to it and then to a second location for the dancing/party portion of the night, so there was extra expense there for the shuttles as well as F&B minimums at the restaurant we selected to party on at, and with the Ritz they really wanted that feeling of exclusivity and how were we going to do that at a hotel.  Well fate always steps in, we could not get a contract together with the mansion and had to say goodbye, and due to my B&G being flexible with dates, we chose a Sunday night for their event which did a couple of things.  It gave us lower F&B minimum and site fees for the areas we wanted to use, and we ended up being the only event at the hotel that night, which meant – the feeling of being at a mansion and it being your own.

As I mentioned, each year I have a couple that like this setup and are willing to pay the additional fees incurred to the hotel for using the space accordingly, and are willing to be flexible with their day of the week/date to fit in with when the hotel is able to offer the space this way.  I already have my couple for next year and can’t wait to see that celebration come together.  But below you will see the courtyard/dining area, and then the Plaza Room  which is normally for dining/dancing for groups of 74 max and very popular due to it’s non ballroom and intimate feel.  We also rented some  curved sofas to go on the balcony and did smores on an open firepit around midnight. So for these guests who had travelled so far, it was one fun element/wow moment after another.

Thanks to Tony Florez for providing the pics below and again  being such a pleasure to work with.

After cocktails the guests were lead into this area to pick up their placecards and then make their way to the dining tables beyond:

Then after dinner we had the mom invite the guests to follow the B&G to the party room:

If you are loving this look/feel, or can tell I am the person to help you pull your celebration together whether here at the Ritz-Carlton or another location, give me a call or email.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Oh, and thanks to Fernanda Jaime as always at the Ritz, for being so patient and working with us to make this all happen as they hoped for.
