Vendors came together for this one

There was a special backstory to this wedding, they booked short term (which has turned into a thing this year, with my short term couples booking a hotel from 5 days prior to 4 weeks prior and off we go, I have always had 6-8 week out couples and longer of course, but this is the year of very short term, and I love the challenge, and as fate has it, my couples are ending up with awesome vendors who were also available, so I call that fate and we were waiting for you but you didn’t know it) and between the hotel, me and then the vendors who came on board we all went over and above, and Brenda was such a sweet bride we wanted her to have the wedding of her dreams and she did!

It was a morning ceremony and lunch reception with no dancing, so we did a different setup in the beautiful Pavilion ballroom with the sweetheart table at the end of the room

Thanks to the awesome vendor team on this one, Frank Salas/Photographer, Flowers by Cina, Design Visage, Peter/Vive Ent for all the music, and Michelle at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna for making it work for this lovely couple and wonderful mother of the groom.

It really was all our pleasure to make Brenda’s dream come true, her tears only reinforced why we do what we do.

Till next time

Beautiful couple and beautiful Ritz wedding

Working with Erika and David over the past year was just a joy.  Very busy couple with kids going here and there and travelling and busy with work, so sometimes wedding planning halted and then we would get going again.  That is the beauty of how I work, I could pull your wedding together in a week, but for most brides that would freak them out, so anytime longer than that means you can halt anytime you want/need to  and there is no panic/pressure from me!!!

Erika had inspiration pics that she pretty much stuck to through the process and they were very much a reflection of her, soft, lovely and in love with love

All the tables had these lovely floorlength linen overlays and we did not use the Ritz baseplates (2 to choose from) this year my brides are loving these new chargers I get through one of my vendors.

The furniture setting on the balcony was actually copied from a wedding they had gone to, but we added florals to the wrought iron and Erika provided the rug which means when she sees it at home it will remind her of her wedding, love that

In 16 years of doing weddings in the Plaza Room no one ever brought up the idea of draping the whole room, but over the years I had brides who wanted to cover paintings in there so we had been creative with draping particular areas, placing trees and placing something on the mantle to cover the fireplace picture, but draping the whole room, hmmmmm. So when Erika said lets do it, I was excited to see the outcome, and it was

l

beautiful, and now all my brides are doing it.  It totally transforms the room and makes it soft and romantic and elegant, intimate and I think it makes the room feel a bit bigger.

We had an awesome candy table setup in the foyer during dinner and guests made to go bags or grabbed some to eat later in the evening when they felt the need.

I love it when a bride lets me guide them to the perfect team for them for their vision/style and budget, and when I say budget, anytime you look at the pics from my couples weddings, whatever you think they may have spent, in reality they probably spent less because I know the right people out there.  Our awesome vendor team on this wedding was: Frank Salas for the pics above and some were mine, Design Visage for the beautifying of all the ladies, Elegant by Design/florals, Chiavari chair rentals, TMMPRO, The Sugar Philosophers, Peter/Vive Ent, Naples Strings, White Flite Dove Release, and my fave Rabbi, Rabbi Ian!! And of course the wonderful ladies and gentlemen at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel xooxoxo

Ritz-Carlton Laguna Wedding

gleeson_0532 gleeson_0554

From the day the bride and her parents came to meet with me I knew we were going to have a fun time pulling this wedding together and then seeing it all evolve on the day.

The brides parents got married here at the Ritz-Carlton Dana Point 30 years ago and one of the Uncles had also been married there, so a real family tradition/location they consider personal is what this beautiful hotel means to them all.  So very special

gleeson_0941 gleeson_0949

Navy blue was a very popular accent or dominant color for weddings in 2016 and totally worked with the new carpet that appeared in the Terrace Room during the year, lol.

gleeson_0953  gleeson_0968

As you can see, my brides style was more natural and she wanted all low centerpieces and was not a colored/seamless/glossy dancefloor kind of girl, so we used the one provided by the hotel.  As always the balcony of the Terrace Salon with the furniture and firepits was very popular once dinner was over, and when I left there was actually a small group of guests still sitting out there not ready to call it a night (the B&G, parents and other guests were in the hotel bar).

gleeson_0982

We pulled together the perfect team, everyone was so happy to be there working on this wedding because they were just lovely lovely people.  Thanks to Frank Salas for the photos and being fab as always, Karla/Elegant by Design for ‘getting’ the vision perfectly, Peter/Vive Ent for the dinner/dancing music, to Naples for the strings for the ceremony and being so great to always work with, to Luxe Linens for the napkins and linens that brought the key color to reality, to Design Visage for beautifying everyone and being on time and always working with my schedule and to Paul Uhlar for doing a really great ceremony as always/we have done around 2000 together over the years, and last but not least our team/friends/family at the Ritz-Carlton Dana Point, its been 15 years of a beautiful relationship, happy brides and grooms/happy guests/happy hotel/happy Lisa!!

Pelican Hill lovely

0025

So wonderful Ali had been in touch from the other side of the USA, New Jersey, and she wanted an OC wedding (I would say 70% of my brides are from out of state and a big group of those are from NY/east coast), in fact had seen Pelican Hill and wondered.  So we went to contract without a location, we had a budget and that meant having to make some compromises to make it work if she wanted the location of her dreams.  She was a bit hesitant so we ended up with estimates from a bunch of great LA hotels also, any of which I would have loved to see her wedding at.  This is where a couple’s flexibility and the relationships your wedding planner has with hotel peeps can come together and miracles happen, groom and I have a big chat (I was actually in New Zealand at the time) and we were able to secure Pelican for them, yahooooo

0042

Speaking of the groom, and this happens sometimes, they get really into how the cake looks or the flavors, he came up with the design for each tier, I came up with the cake floating on a bed of lush florals, and voila we had a focal point for the round room area.

0436

Mother nature played a trick on us for this September wedding, there was no sign of the Pacific Ocean for all these folks who had flown in from the east coast, thank goodness they were all in the area for a few days so they did know it was there at some point!! But some of the pics with the sea haze/fog in the background were quite beautiful

0573

I promise you there is an ocean out there, well at least for cocktails the ceremony area was their view/backdrop.

0582 0602

We came up with elements that a lot of their guests would not have seen, two different centerpieces, one very candely and the other lush/pretty, and of course who doesn’t love a floral chandelier.  The pic above does not do this any justice, you had to be below looking up to realize how many flowers were in there and how beautiful it was. And if you look closely enough you will see the white grand piano left hand front of the ceremony area for the pianist to use, totally completed the whole ceremony look.

0643 0872

We draped the room, not because you have to but we wanted to and it does always transform a space and even for a large event can give the illusion of intimate.  We do this a lot for my couples not from the OC and for some from the OC, the In N out run at the end of the night for food to go/take as you are leaving, always a hit.

0875 img_9936

Of course my fave, the 100 Dove release after the intro of B&G to all at the ceremony, something guests always talk about.  And I love it when we have enough lawn to really go big on the aisle petal scroll, out the back.  Above the view looking towards the rotunda and below the view from rotunda looking down the aisle back towards cocktail/ballroom area.

img_9940 img_9945 img_9951 img_9960 img_9961

Its all in the details, that’s how people know you care and took time, the ceremony was live streamed for those guests not able to attend.  We did my fave white glossy/seamless.decaled dancefloor, we actually used the hotel linens in the ballroom because they fit perfectly with our look, but we did rent La Tavola linens for the cocktail tables using an inspiration picture Ali had from the beginning, and she is not the first bride to use that particular picture with me, lol!!

img_9966  img_9969 img_9975

Love this aerial view of the ceremony site from the drone and it really shows how there was no ocean to be seen!!! Crazy.

0019

I don’t normally post people pics, but I thought this picture was so soft and really showed what Ali is about, family and love.  This is where having everyone wear the palette of the wedding totally worked and it made me stop and notice.  And, that fog in the background added to the whole effect, yes I know how to make lemonade out of lemons, for sure.

We pulled together a great vendor team for this one, thanks to Joe Latter for the pics above, Marc/The Emotion Picture Studio for video/drone/live streaming and for over 20 years we have done beautiful weddings together, Design Visage for beautifying the ladies, White Flite for the Dove release/perfectly timed as always, Flowers by Cina for orchestrating the vision we had on paper into reality, Chiavari chair rentals for the rotunda and ballroom draping-gotta love a chandelier in the rotunda.  To TMMPRO for our chivaris/round dancefloor&decal and lighting, and to my fave band for many years who adjusted their line up to suit the broad range of music Ali wanted to be able to share with her guests, so easy to work with and they handled ceremony, cocktail and dancing music with ease, Full Spectrum, thank you Adam for being such a great partner and wonderful asset to any wedding celebration/memory for guests.  Then we have the Pelican Hill Team, from Pam to Clancy to the wonderful team actually interacting with the guests on the day, classy and elegant as always.

Ritz-Carlton Sunset Terrace/Plaza wedding

l07a6021 l07a6259

We loved working with our bride for this more intimate celebration.  She was a very busy working woman and definitely needed me to help her pull the vendor team together that fit with her budget and vision/style.  So as well as our fabulous partners at the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna, we had Dj Al, Flowers by Karen, Naples Strings for ceremony&cocktails, Design Visage for hair/makeup, Tony Florez for photography-thanks for the pics, and Teri there on the day to oversee/run the event.

l07a6305  l07a6319

Everyone knows I love a white glossy/seamless round dancefloor, finally found a smaller one for Plaza and looks like the guests had used/messed up the cushions on the benches!! lol

Monarch Beach pretty wedding

0013 0041

The groom was actually the one who booked me(when I was actually in New Zealand in March, we had a couple of phone chats and then we were off) and we got things going, once our bride was able to jump in it was obvious she had a ‘pretty’ style and lots of inspirations from pinterest and instagram.  The pictures here are a mix of mine and Joe Latter’s, the above two are Joe’s and I really love them both.  Great shot of the guys!!

0290    0314

We had the combo of Pacific Lawn and Club 19 which doesn’t happen often, but when you choose a morning ceremony/lunch reception on a Sunday, you tend to be able to get a bit more than normal.  The petal aisle turned out great Elegant by Design!!

0665  0688

We love Club 19 and the changes with the new hotel name change have really added to this area.  I also love how my couples tend to do the decal on the dancefloor(both from TMMPRO and the chiavaris also) and each one is really different, my couples weddings are all about their style, not mine or someone elses.

0689 0692

Purple and lavender are my fave colors too, so I loved this palette with the white and gold to allow it to pop and accent.

0700   img_9070

Nothing to say, the lavender sprig was lovely, simple and all that was needed to tie everything in.

img_9075  img_9091

The acrylic pedestals and glass vases allowed the flowers to show at the ceremony and not get lost against this large rotunda structure, the florals were just lovely.

img_9095 img_9141

Lots of wooden signs to put on easels in different areas and gold signs to go in florals, cake etc, yes Etsy did well out of our Miss Andrea!!!  Design Visage beautified everyone beautifully as always, I loved the detail of Andrea’s hair from the back.

0007 0034

Look at how fabulous Andrea looks in the tunnel, and look at her sexy side view of her gown!!

0029 0123

Their 2 babies walked up the aisle.  Lovely details, notes to the parents and groomsmen gifts

0139 0708 0281 0704

Here I am in action, pinning my groom’s bout.  The favor was, guests making their own sachet of fresh lavender, it smelt so good there.

0016 0317

Had a couple of brides do a ‘dad first look’ this year, its quite emotional/touching for everyone.

Great vendor team, we all knew each other which is always so great, Alan Katz/officiant and David Krieger/dj were there too, and a new vendor we got to meet/work with Dove Weddings/videographer.  And of course, Laura and the banquet team at the Monarch Beach Resort, xoxoxoxoxo

Beautiful Ritz-Carlton intimate wedding

0022

Love it when a photographer comes up with a new shot at a hotel, great job Joe Latter!!

0023 0281

How’s that for a cake backdrop and a ceremony backdrop, hard to beat and that is why we have so many couples from all over the world choose to get married right here, and this couple was no exception, they came from New York as did most of their guests.  It was all about intimate in size and feeling we wanted to create, thus the one row of chairs circling them as they exchanged their vows

0284 0291 0458 0462

And very popular this year and we have lucked out each time, al fresco dining under the stars.  Don’t you wish you were a guest at this table with this scenery.

0464    0476

I normally don’t post pics with people in them, but the one with the guest during dinner looks like an ad for some kind of cool dinner party to be at, don’t you think??!!

img_8963

And I took this photo during the ceremony which was timed to happen during sunset, isn’t that spectacular.

Thanks to Flowers by Cina for working with us on this one and making it happen, xoxoxxo, and to Naples Strings for playing for a good 4 hours, switching it up as we moved from pre-ceremony to ceremony, to cocktails, to dinner, awesome to work with as always. To Design Visage for beautifying my beautiful bride Sedef, not that she needed it, such a natural beauty, full of grace and just beauty inside and out.  And my fave Rabbi, Rabbi Ian always creates a great ceremony under the Chuppah, and I had the pleasure of enjoying rehearsal dinner with him as my date the night before also!!!  And to our friends for 15 years of doing weddings with them, the banquet team at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna, we love you all for team we are!!

Monarch Beach Resort wedding

img_8692 img_8715

Had quite a few weekday weddings this year, meaning Monday and Thursdays and this wedding was on a Tuesday.  Now whether the date was significant to the couple or as a destination wedding they realized its cheaper for guests to fly in/out on weekdays and hotels/locations are going to be very flexible with space/minimums and hotel room rates can be better than weekends, especially in the summer.

img_8720 img_8725

A beautiful ceremony at the Italian style Botanical Garden which I love, cocktails on Botanical Lawn with a clear view over golf greens to the ocean and then dining on Club 19 patio with the same views as cocktails.  Low lush florals by Elegant by Design, which allowed the surroundings to shine, glossy/seamless dancefloor by my pal Jack/TMMPRO and the chivaris, photos above by Joe Latter and a couple are mine, beautification by Design Visage, officiating by Paul Uhlar, ceremony and cocktail music by Naples Strings, and the party/mceeing by my bud Peter @ Vive Entertainment, being a weekday also means not fighting or losing out on great vendors they are normally all available and may be willing to do a bit of price lowering because you are a bonus to their normal weekend weddings!!!  So destination and local weddings, start taking all these things into consideration, much more wedding for your $$$ by going midweek.

Intimate Ritz-Carlton Laguna wedding

Such a lovely couple to help plan their wedding for very close family and a few friends.

vega_0017  vega_0030

With that backdrop you don’t need to fill up the backdrop with anything but what mother nature provided, right??!!

vega_0336

Such a pretty sweetheart table piece, soft and calm, just like our bride.

Perfect team for these two, Frank Salas/photography, DJ Kreiger, Karens Flowers, Wendy our harpist for ceremony & cocktails, and Paul Uhlar officiating, and of course the awesome peeps at the RC for doing what they do so very very well.

Intimate Ritz celebration

FullSizeRender 2 FullSizeRender 3

This is why I love my job, there is no right or wrong and everyone has their own vision/dream.  For this intimate celebration, the Pacific Ocean was the backdrop for the ceremony that had a labyrinth the guests and the couple walked, cocktails on the balcony of Plaza Room, dinner on Sunset Terrace with that beautiful ocean from daylight to night, then into Plaza Room for dancing.  Fabulous.  Thanks To Flowers by Cina who jumped in and worked with us and to Peter/Vive Ent dj for making the after party the place to be.
