Pelican Hill Resort Wedding 2020

Well we managed to get this wedding done March 15, 2020, the day before pretty much everyone in the USA went under shelter at home and no gatherings of more than 50 people which went down to 10 people within a day.  As I said to the mom of our groom (who was just a doll to deal with from beginning to end and wants to come work with me!!) where she was thinking the fall out of guests in the week leading up to the wedding was stressful, at least we got to have their beautiful wedding and it was such a wonderful celebration for a really really cool/awesome couple, so many after that date through now and probably mid June, hopefully not longer, I have an end of June wedding holding on tight hoping they can have their wedding as planned, have not been able to have their weddings.  I have had 6 weddings from April-mid June move dates and look very forward to the day we can celebrate them, it will be worth the wait for all.

But I digress, the Groom’s mom and bride had an inspiration pic they had been carrying around and we pretty much duplicated it.  Mom has great style and really wanted to make this wedding special, she loves her daughter in law to be and had special touches added that really personalised the wedding for them.

Thanks to TMMPRO for the rotunda draping & behind the band stage also/lighting in the ballroom +bistro lighting over cocktail patio, and the band stage cover, Simply Sweet Cakery for the wedding cake and the hidden Mickey that was special for the bride, Karla at Elegant by Design for as always putting your heart into my weddings, another beautiful job.  We had my new fav vendor Amy Serrano play the acoustic violin for the ceremony and switch it up to the electric violin with her led bow for cocktails, she has such great energy and loves what she does, the dinner/dancing was done by On demand who I have worked with a few times in the past year or so, and we had a taco cart for late night snacks as a surprise to the guests and that went down very well.  And to Miki & Sonja for being so lovely to work with and for the good pics in this post (mine are the bad ones) and to Lin & Jirsa for video on this one.

To our lovely ladies at Pelican, it was a tough day for staff there as they knew they were not going to be working for a while after, but everyone pulled through and helped me create a wonderful wedding for this special couple, our groom’s mom, and the guests who I know are not going to ever be sorry for making it to this wedding. xoxxo

Now the only good thing to come out of coronavirus is, this post makes the end of me sitting here for the past 2-3 weeks and getting caught up on nearly 3 years worth of wedding blogs/posts of weddings during that time and travel blogs that i have been meaning to do, it was nearly 200, and a lot of work, but if it wasn’t for coronavirus i would have never found or had the time to do this.  So I am now going to drink some champagne to celebrate being caught up and hopefully have a little down time before we go crazy with a years worth of weddings happening in 6 months of what will be left of 2020. Fingers and toes crossed.

Till next time

Ritz-Carlton Laguna Terrace Salon wdg

Ohhhh Lea and Craig, loved them, so fun.  Craig is English and not the stuffy kind of English (being 1/4 English I know my English, lol) and he was funny and kept us very amused through the whole planning process.  This was a couple that had a great time at their wedding.  Above is their sweetheart table, using my fave B&G sofa and i love a sweetheart table with orchids dropping off it.  And… as all the hotels and my brides know, tea sandwiches come before everyone gets dressed.  They are smaller so as the makeup is done the ladies are still able to have food of substance to tide them over until they get to eat big again at dinner (or cocktails if they are lucky) and if a little champagne has been consumed during getting ready it helps keep everyone awake, lol.  The Ritz-Carlton Laguna does the job perfectly for my brides/ladies.

We did the ketubah signing in the Private Dining Room, then Rabbi Ian led the ceremony with the ocean backdrop, perfection!!

We did a mix of high & low florals, all by Flowers By Cina, thanks again for a fabulous job, Dancefloor+custom decal/B&G sofa/Chiavaris by TMMPRO, cere/cocktail music by Naples Strings, dinner/dancing music+mceeing+lighting by Invisible Touch with Juan and Deon, Design Visage did the hair+makeup and on time as always xoxox

We did the In N Out Run and the parade which I love to lead and make the servers do it with me, not sure if they like it as much as me, lol, which our couples love and the Ritz did a station to go with it with the groom’s fave fried items.  Terrace Salon Balcony is a popular place at every wedding, men migrate out there to chat during the noise/dancing and ladies head out in-between, sometimes the event ends and i realise there is a big group sitting out there chatting not ready to leave!!

thanks as always to our Ritz Carlton family, we love being there with you all xoxox

Till next time

Balboa Bay Resort Wedding

Always nice to be back at BBR.  Grant and Nancy booked a small service where they would have all vendors on board/everything done when it officially began.  After meeting them and getting our detail meeting underway when their service officially began, I noticed that was i was seeing/feeling for the style/look of the wedding did not seem to match Nancy and her personality.  In chatting more it became apparent she had had not idea what she wanted and was busy and just kind of went along with things, so between The Finishing Touch/Brandi and I we redesigned the whole look/feel of everything and it turned out beautifully and they were really happy.  The difference with booking a small service with us is that we still care and are not order takers/just get it done because you are paying less and even though what they were going to do may have been fine but then again, would she have ever loved her photos/good memories of how things looked, we will never know, i just know that with the vendors i work with constantly my couples get a better look/feel than if they went rental/vendor shopping on their own.

They were not doing a white dancefloor but we switched out some rentals they were getting/paying more for and by me organizing the rentals they spent $200 more and got a beautiful dancefloor+decal along with the other rentals they were already doing.  It really was a statement piece and elevated the celebration with elegance to go along with the white/gold we used in the rest of the décor/elements.

In the Bayview Room (where we did one of the first weddings after they turned it from a restaurant to banquet space a few years ago) there are 3 openings that go to the bar, we used the center one as the backdrop/sweetheart area giving the 2 side ones for access in/out, much better.  I love this pic of the groom just before we had the bride/ladies come down to the cere site, this is where they would enter the ceremony through

thanks to Eric/West Imagery for being so nice and easy to work with before and on the wedding day and for the pics above, my iPhone ones are below and a bit brighter/colors more vibrant, as the day was definitely not gloomy, but that again just shows that every photographer has their own style/look and as couples you pick the person whose work you like/want, but it can change in your memory how things were.

Thanks to Grace & Honey cakes for the beautiful cake, TMMPRO for the dancefloor/decl, chairs & chargers, The Finishing touch/Brandi&Doug for the floral/décor, Design Visage for hair&makeup, Ben Mallare Band and of course the lovelies at Balboa Bay Resort we get to work with, we love it there.

And as so many of our couples do, we did the In N out Run towards the end of the night which was a hit as usual.

Till next time

Hyatt HB Huntington Ballroom wedding

Our bride had dreamed of her wedding for a long time, so anything that could be added to make it perfect, she did.  She added a chandelier to the ceiling in Huntington Ballroom, her ceremony floral circle got moved to behind the cake, we draped and at the ceremony she had lovely words of love on boards going down the aisle, doves/White Flite were released at the end of the ceremony, a string trio played ceremony music, mariachis played at cocktails, and a band and dj were in the ballroom, Katella Bakery did an awesome job with her cake vision.  The ceremony was at CA Courtyard, cocktails were Huntington Ballroom balcony & foyer, and then into the ballroom.  Face it Sugar did hair&makeup.  Kudos to The Finishing Touch/Brandi & Doug, a lot of work but it all came together and looked beautiful.  And of course to our friends at the Hyatt HB, kudos xox

Alta Vista Country Club wedding

Nicole oversaw/orchestrated this wedding for this sweet couple with Darla’s help.  The venue has a gazebeo but they were doing a traditional Jewish ceremony and wanted a proper chuppah, look below at their ketubah, love it.

For this wedding our old friend Tomoko/harpist who we had not seen for years, provided the ceremony music, and in the ballroom Nicole worked side by side with Jason Jass/Visions Entertainment to pull off a great celebration for these two. xoxo

Hotel Irvine wedding

Another one of our lovely Egyptian brides where Nicole was at the hotel to keep the ladies on track/off to the church on time (Ella Said was doing hair and makeup for all), then focus on the Pavilion setup etc at Hotel Irvine, while Allison was at the church to get everyone ready to go up the aisle then keep the photography on time after the wedding, back to the hotel.

We love it when the zaffa dancers/drummers/musicians escort the B&G in, adds such energy/excitement to the whole event.

Seaside Strings played during cocktails which were outside on the courtyard and the lawn where the hedge wall was for selfies, Invisible Touch/Trevor did the music/mceeing in the Pavilion for the dinner/dance.  Creative Cakes/Cheryl handled the wedding cake, and for a surprise after dinner the Chip N Chunk team came with ice cream sandwiches, we did that a few times in one year.

Our bride left the hotel in style, on time, thanks to Nicole who was their Day of Co-Ordinator orchestrating/overseeing everything on the day, I worked with Engie and her mom through the planning and pulled everything together.  Her mom was the best!

Thanks To Engie for the pics above, the ones below are from Nicole or Allison’s cell.

thanks to Ebi and the team at Hotel Irvine, always great working with them.  He has cultural weddings down to a T.

Ritz Laguna Plaza Room wedding

I had planned things with Yana and Leo for their end of year wedding at the Ritz-Carlton, this was their CA wedding and in being flexible and doing a thursday the week before xmas with their intimate group of 50, meant they could have it at a 5 star hotel with views and service to die for, because they had to watch their budget due to their wedding in Russia which was going to be huge a few weeks later (Yana is a bit of  a celebrity in Russia).

I was in Cabo looking at some of the best venues there for future weddings on their wedding date but Nicole was orchestrating/overseeing on the day with Darla’s assistance and they had a great vendor team, all of who know how Lisa likes things so I didn’t need to worry at all that it would not be a success, and of course it was, B&G were very happy.

Thanks to Joel Austell for the pics above, Shane Productions/video, EBD Floral as always for making things work out as our brides anticipate from the beginning, Rabbi Ian for as always doing a great Jewish ceremony and the Trotts who issued the CA marriage license at the hotel (they have done this for quite a few of our couples over the years and it’s starting to be more and more popular), Peter/Vive Entertainment for handling all the music and mceeing and keeping things on track with Nicole, and to everyone at the Ritz who again, helped us make a couple’s wedding dreams come true, thank you xoxo

Hyatt HB Destination wedding

So Cece and Cleo and all their guests came from Memphis, Tennessee, for her CA Beach wedding.  There was about 50 in total that came and had a great CA vacay at the end of 2019.  Again, this is a situation where if you are flexible you can have your dream (and our dreams/budget/style are all so different) come true.  They chose to do it on a sunday and in the daytime (again, saves on lighting and puts the focus more on being together/the view etc.   Aunty Orlene officiated and i have to tell you, one of the best ceremonies ever, she was amazing!!

Originally they were on the Nautical deck for the ceremony and then coming to Sandpiper Room, using that patio for after cere socializing (no alcohol at this wedding), but as the time got closer and things became available, Cheryl at the Hyatt HB really worked with me to make this as special as we could for the couple and their guests.  They got to move to Lighthouse Courtyard and we angled the ceremony so they would not have guests walking over the bridge in the background, then we got to use the Red Chair Lounge patio for the socializing time and then into Sandpiper they came, where we did 3 long tables, 1 for bparty/linear style and the guest tables on each side, it really made for everyone feeling like they were together.  Cece had booked our services with one of my Day of Co-ordinators orchestrating on the day, but same thing for me if as the wedding gets closer I am not booked, then they get me on the day, which happened a few times in 2019, so lucky couples, i think/hope, lol!!

Great working with Joe Broccardo Photo, it had been a while (but i think the pics above are all mine though??!!), Karen’s Flowers (no insta or website), Sweet Traders for the cake as Cece wanted it, and Peter/Vive Entertainment for always being willing to work with the opportunities i present to him, lol xoxox

Hyatt HB – Fun Vista Ballroom wedding

From my first meeting with Greg and Arlynne I knew this was going to be a fun one and i said to Arlynne, ‘your life is never going to be boring with this one’.  Greg constantly makes jokes and is just funny and he wanted the wedding to be that way and incorporate elements that guests would know he had input, Arlynne just let him do his thing and he took the lead.  He came up with some wacky ideas that i would at first say, yeah sure lets do that, then i would realise he was being serious and have to say, oh hang on let’s really talk this through.  lol

From the get go the donut wall was major, he really wanted donuts from his favourite store as everyone knows he goes there everyday, but unfortunately that was not able to happen so the hotel provided the board and donuts and they did them in blue which was the wedding color and did them in a heart.

From the Blue wands with bells that everyone waved during the ceremony when it took their fancy to when the Bridal Party exited the cere (the wands had meaning for the bride and were her one important item), the LOVE sign in the foyer, the mirror seating chart,  the best band ever (lol, as Greg and the guests were all saying at the end, and yes they did extend the band because that dancefloor was full and they couldn’t get enough of Adam and the Full Spectrum band), to the In N Out cake (also made by Sweet Traders that made the wedding cake) because everyone knows Greg also loves In N Out-that his bride surprised him with, that was the only item he knew nothing about and we pulled that off, whew!!  There was always something that the guest’s were saying, this is awesome, what a great time.

They sat at a small oval table with their bestman&wife and matronOH&husband and the guests were at rounds with a mix of tall/low centerpieces (florals all by EBD of course!!). To Jacqueline Kay Photography (the pics above are a mix of her’s and mine), Shane Productions/video, Design Visage for hair/makeup and keeping the ladies on time, TMMPRO for my fave round dancefloor/lighting/chargers/stage cover, thank you to our custom vendor team who got the vibe and made it happen, and to our friends at Hyatt HB always xoxoxo

And yes this is cake!!! from vendors to hotel staff to guests, people were amazed!!!  Someone even asked me, will it taste like cake or a burger, and what about the French fries?  Hmmm, good question, i had no idea and as we did not cut any of it, it went to the B&G room to enjoy the next day, i never asked, so we will never know, lol!!

Till next time

Montage Laguna Wedding

Mom of the groom got things going with this wedding even though she lived in another state and the couple lived in Los Angeles, they were busy busy.  We pulled together a wonderful vendor team and everything turned out fabulously.  In the picture above there was a mini sofreh next to the sweetheart table to pay homage to the bride’s heritage.

You may have noticed now that most couples at Montage Laguna are opting to use the side lawn for the ceremony, it gives a nice coastal with ocean backdrop and it puts the lawn a bit higher so you don’t get people walking the path behind in your pics.  We have then been using the center lawn for cocktails which i think is better views for them

Thanks to Joe Latter for the pics, Luxury Lifestyle Studio/Video, TMMPRO for the chiavaris/band stage cover/dancefloor+decal/lighting, EBD Floral for doing a fabulous job as always, Gracie Sprout for cere/cocktail string duo, and to Full Spectrum Band/Adam who brought energy as only he does to a celebration, and to Viral Booth OC for the surprise Photobooth after dinner.  And to Kelly/no longer there for being such a trooper/team mate as always, over the years we have done many many weddings together between the 3 hotels she was working at, I wonder if she will miss it and come back?? hmmmmmmm lol
