Hyatt HB Huntington Ballroom

Really enjoyed Betty and Adam.  They booked us to handle the reception portion at the hotel only, they did not need us earlier in the day or at the church.  They were our first wedding to do the sparkler cans in the ballroom at Hyatt HB and boy we went through the ringer for that.  My fave moment of the night was when they were on their stage after the grand entrance and the sparklers went off and all the guests were dancing/clapping infront of the B&G and Adam looked at me and gave the thumbs up!

Their grand entrance was lead in by some traditional drummers and all the guests created a tunnel from the door to the dancefloor for them (this is something they all knew to do and do at every wedding) and their culture line dances, it was amazing to watch the majority of the 300 guests line dancing, very calming and peaceful!! of course they had a band and dj and inbetween that was the normal parttttyyyyyyy going on, lol.  Floral was by The Finishing Touch/Brandi & Doug, nice job as always, cake by Sweet Traders-don’t you love the cake topper (we saw quite a few custom ones in 2019) and the dancefloor/decal, stage cover, special lighting/sparklers, chargers/chiavaris were by my team of guys from TMMPRO.  Of course a big shoutout to our pals at Hyatt HB, been doing weddings there since the day the hotel opened, 17 years i believe, wowser!! xoxo

Hyatt HB Indian Wedding

This blog will give you a good feel for the special moments/elements of a wedding day celebration, thanks to Andrew Kwak Photo for the pics.  Hair and makeup was a collaboration between Drea and Lulu, Daisy the horse was there of course, and Sound Nation/Raj kept things going from the baraat with the dohl player through to the end of the evening dinner/dance.  Thanks to our friends at Hyatt HB as always too xoxo

the pics above are when the bride and groom leave after the ceremony (normally done around 11am so it is done by noon) and luncheon to follow, for the grooms family home.  The vehicle they leave in varies, i have had everything from luxury car as above to helicopter to yachts!!  It’s a really emotional time for the bride and her parents and family because life as they knew it with her at home/in the family will now be different/change.  The good news is, on this day, they make it back in time to get ready for the dinner/dance celebration, yayyyyy

Hyatt HB – Fun Vista Ballroom wedding

From my first meeting with Greg and Arlynne I knew this was going to be a fun one and i said to Arlynne, ‘your life is never going to be boring with this one’.  Greg constantly makes jokes and is just funny and he wanted the wedding to be that way and incorporate elements that guests would know he had input, Arlynne just let him do his thing and he took the lead.  He came up with some wacky ideas that i would at first say, yeah sure lets do that, then i would realise he was being serious and have to say, oh hang on let’s really talk this through.  lol

From the get go the donut wall was major, he really wanted donuts from his favourite store as everyone knows he goes there everyday, but unfortunately that was not able to happen so the hotel provided the board and donuts and they did them in blue which was the wedding color and did them in a heart.

From the Blue wands with bells that everyone waved during the ceremony when it took their fancy to when the Bridal Party exited the cere (the wands had meaning for the bride and were her one important item), the LOVE sign in the foyer, the mirror seating chart,  the best band ever (lol, as Greg and the guests were all saying at the end, and yes they did extend the band because that dancefloor was full and they couldn’t get enough of Adam and the Full Spectrum band), to the In N Out cake (also made by Sweet Traders that made the wedding cake) because everyone knows Greg also loves In N Out-that his bride surprised him with, that was the only item he knew nothing about and we pulled that off, whew!!  There was always something that the guest’s were saying, this is awesome, what a great time.

They sat at a small oval table with their bestman&wife and matronOH&husband and the guests were at rounds with a mix of tall/low centerpieces (florals all by EBD of course!!). To Jacqueline Kay Photography (the pics above are a mix of her’s and mine), Shane Productions/video, Design Visage for hair/makeup and keeping the ladies on time, TMMPRO for my fave round dancefloor/lighting/chargers/stage cover, thank you to our custom vendor team who got the vibe and made it happen, and to our friends at Hyatt HB always xoxoxo

And yes this is cake!!! from vendors to hotel staff to guests, people were amazed!!!  Someone even asked me, will it taste like cake or a burger, and what about the French fries?  Hmmm, good question, i had no idea and as we did not cut any of it, it went to the B&G room to enjoy the next day, i never asked, so we will never know, lol!!

Hyatt HB – Indian Wedding

So this was the second child of this family that I was honored to do a wedding for.  The funny thing is I was at the Hyatt HB doing a wedding when they were doing their site visits with hotels and bumped into me and said, we think we will do it here and look here you are, lol.

We did the ceremony on the CA Courtyard Lawn which with the canopies and guest count pretty much maxed the lawn out, but it worked.  Then cocktails were held on Huntington Ballroom balcony, then into Huntington Ballroom we went.

A wee room by the catering office is the perfect spot for the bride to watch the baraat from.  Raj came in on Daisy the horse who we use a lot.

My fave Indian Priest/officiant Shukavek officiated and as always did a great job.

We draped the service wall of the ballroom, it makes such a difference, and they loved the round dancefloor when i mentioned it, so we added that in too.

Special Occasions handled the baraat and all music/mceeing and kept the dancefloor full as you can see.  Thanks to Matei for some of the pics above and some are mine.  Thanks to the Hyatt HB as always for helping me get things done!! xoxo

Hyatt Hb – CA Courtyard & Vista Wedding

Bobby and his bride Julianna and his sister happened to be doing a site visit when I was doing a wedding at Hyatt HB, saw what we had done and booked the Hyatt and me on the spot.  Love that right!!

Beautiful wedding with elements along the way, a 100 white dove release at the end of the ceremony which is always a wow, their first dance in fog/dry ice, special B&G chairs, a dance performance by Karmagraphy Dance Troupe and great colors, white & blue with just a pop of yellow.

Florals and napkins by EBD, thanks as always Karla/Will & Tammy

Doves by my only dove lady ever, White Flite

Draping, dancefloor+decal/chargers/stage cover/chiavaris all by my guys at TMMPRO. Photos above by Jim Kennedy/always a pleasure to work with him & his teams, Design Visage for hair/makeup-never a late bride!! Harp for ceremony & cocktails by my fave Wendy, and dinner/dance music/mceeing by Nick/3D Sounds, and as always, our partners at Hyatt HB since the day the hotel opened, we love being there with you all xoxoxo

Another Hyatt HB wedding

Karen and William were just a pleasure.  Soft/gentle/kind, and their celebration gives a glimmer of that to those in attendance and then in photos after.  We did a mix of long and round tables, using hotel linens but rental napkins and cake table linen.  They were in the Huntington Ballroom and had a linear headtable which they wanted their backs to the windows as they had a band/Lucky Devils, and they needed to be along the service wall, but they didn’t want the windows as their backdrop, so TMMPRO draped the windows the length of the headtable and also provided the dancefloor and their custom decal as well as the acrylic chiavaris and lighting, thanks as always.

Design Visage prettied the ladies up, EBD floral did their magic in both areas, Naples Strings were our pre/cere/cocktail music, and McCunes were the photographers and i think for once it is all the photographers pics here, none of mine, so either i was really busy to get the shots i needed/wanted, lol, or Gloria and Cory were perfecto!!  And of course to our family at Hyatt HB where we have worked since the day the hotel opened, about 17 years now, we love you and thank you for helping us make dreams come true

Sweet Hyatt HB wedding

101516_0673 101516_0678

They were such a sweet sweet couple, and the colors/look/feel shown in the pictures is a good reflection of how our bride is.  During the planning process she found out she was pregnant, so there were some meetings where the poor thing was not well at all.  I actually had quite a few pregnancies last year, some already pregnant when they booked me and we pulled everything together in a few weeks, and two who found out during the planning and we just kept going, the gowns needed a bit more adjusting than normal closer to the wedding day though!!

101516_0683 101516_0684

I love a textured floral look and with these colors it is just so pretty

101516_0708 101516_1282

I worked with our bride and groom during the planning months, doing the budget, securing vendors to match the budget/vision/style and keeping them on track with what needed to be done along the way, then Nicole took over on the day itself and kept everything going to plan and on track, which resulted in a wonderful celebration.

101516_1286 101516_1294

The draping is a good way to hide the airwall track going right down the center of the room.

101516_1312

Lovely vendor team on board, Miki and Sonja/photographers-thanks for the photos, Parallel Media/video, Brent Edwards/officiant for working so well with them, TMMPRO for the dancefloor/lighting and draping.  Sweet Traders for the yum wedding cake, Pennys Florals, and all music was by DJ David, and of course to our friends at the Hyatt Huntington Beach-we love working with you all to ensure great wedding celebrations.

Hyatt Huntington Beach wedding

img_0572 img_0573 img_0575 img_0576

From our first planning meeting I could see it all, and on the wedding day and the great vendor team we pulled together, it all came together.  Lovely thick aisle pattern and beautiful florals/color palette from EBD Florals/Karla, xoxoxoxo

img_0579

Love my seamless/glossy white dancefloor, that along with the draping behind the sheart table to hide the airwall track and the acrylic chiavaris came from TMMPRO, my new fave vendor from 2015.

img_0583   img_0588

I don’t see too many light gobos on the dancefloor now, but our bride preferred that to a

decal, and it turned out soft and pretty. You can see from the pics taken at different times the changes the lighting made

img_0591 img_0598 img_0602 img_0604 img_0607  img_4002

I asked EBD Floral to do a thick lush floral topper on the table and the bride had a picture showing flowers on a slope look/feel, it turned out beautifully. The cake was from Sweet Traders and DJ Jonsen did a great job, our second time working with him.  And as always, to the team at Hyatt HB, we have been doing weddings there for 15 years/from when the hotel opened its doors, its like being home when we are there xoxoxoxo

Persian wedding at Hyatt Huntington Beach

4 5

I loved Amir and Melika (I know I seem to say that a lot, but its true, I receive lovely lovely couples) and helping her vision (that Amir was happy to go along with always!!) come to reality was just a pleasure.

6 7 8 11

I had all the cultural vendors they needed, the sofreh lady, the tea and fruit lady, and my lovely Shahrzad Ardalan my favourite Persian officiant.  For music DJ Julius was perfect for them and I love working with him.  They found the violinist and the crème de la crème of the night was Kamran and Hooman taking the stage, we were suddenly at a concert and the guests loved it!!

14 15  19 21 22 23    27 33

The rest of the vendor team was hand picked and perfect for their celebration; Frank Salas Photographer (thanks for the pics above), Newport Bay Productions/video, Royal Bakery for another one of their spectacular cakes/display, White Flite for the dove release at the end of the ceremony, Elegant by Design/florals, Henry/famous hair and makeup artist in the Persian community, and TMMPRO for the round white dancefloor (my fave for 2014&15) and the acrylic chiavaris, and Wildflower Linen for our bride and groom chair covers!!  As everyone walked in behind the headtable, everyone saw them and took pics of them!!  And of course, the Hyatt HB & Cheryl for always being so easy to work with/helping me make the dream come true.

Here’s to 2011

Welcome to the year of your wedding!!

The year started off for me with a wedding on the first day (yesterday, jan 1, 2011), and in the morning!!   So it meant a nice calm NY eve night, saw the movie ‘The Tourist’ which just made me want to get back to Venice asap, couple of glasses of Veuve and then bed.

Not that my lovely bride or groom asked for it, but I decided prior to 11am, that if they were getting married on 1.1.11 then I would start the cere at 11:11am, and I untied the aisle ribbon at that time and we began, how’s that for keeping in the theme.  They had 85 guests of which only 2 did not make it, a lovely day down at the lovely Ritz-Carlton, Laguna, the ocean backdrop was gorgeous, the sun was out and warm in the afternoon, and they even ended up with fabulous sunset shots down on the beach at 5pm.  A perfect start to a perfect life together for Alithia and Corey.

Blogging from here on out:

Think I am going to change my blogging thoughts for this year.  Over the past couple of years I have blogged on some of my favourite locations, weddings, and unique ideas, as well as destinations outside of the US for weddings, and I can see how many thousands of people have read my blogs and gained insight or information that hopefully helped them make some great decisions.

And, I can tell by my calendar I am going to be fortunate to be doing  more of the same this year, so ….. instead of blogging after things have happened and possibly doing the odd blog that was more therapy for me than of interest to you ………….

If you are one of my brides and you wish me to blog about your celebration, let me know and I will.

Or if you have found my blog by doing a search, then that tells you I am experienced in/have experience with,  whatever it is you are looking for/thinking about, so call or email me and let’s chat and work together on your celebration.

Now, that’s not to say, that if something grabs my attention or is something I feel compelled to sit at the computer and chat about I won’t, I will.  Going in to a new year, I am curious as to what those topics just may be.

Take care, be healthy, I hope this is a successful/prosperous year for us all.

Till next time
