Ritz-Carlton Laguna wedding

IMG_0008 IMG_0010

Loved my time with these two, just lovely and special.  They already had a wee one (who entered the reception on a remote controlled Bentley much to everyone’s amusement) so all our meetings were based around baby’s schedule, which worked out just fine.  Sam had contacted me months before, then they both came and met with me and then nothing for months, then about three months before Sam called saying the date is close, lets get going.  So starting from scratch we got going.  Mia had a very clear vision for how she wanted her wedding gazebo to look, I couldn’t quite get it but Karla/Elegant By Design totally got it and made it happen.  The view above is from Mia’s balcony looking down on her ceremony site, not a bad backdrop right.

We were in the Terrace Salon room so the gold/pearly walls worked well with Mia’s pink feel she wanted, it was a certain pink, not light pink and not fushia, I think you can see by looking at these pics that Matthew/OCASV lighting got it perfectly.

When I broached the idea of the one rose bouquet for Mia she loved it and Karla made a really big one which was just stunning.  They don’t drink martinis but wanted a luge, so Carving Ice made us a champagne luge which was well received.

As you can tell from the pictures it was just a lovely, sweet, wedding for a lovely, sweet, couple and I was honored to help them bring it to life.

Thanks to the great vendor team we pulled together to make it perfect, Newport Bay Productions/Video, 4 snapz/photobooth, Paul Uhlar for your lovely ceremony as always, Naples Strings for ceremony and cocktails, Alvarron Ent/DJ-Al for always being great to work with and reading the crowd well, Monico Décor for my fave the round dancefloor and other rentals and to Wildflower Linen for our B&G chair covers, always a hit. And to the ladies and gentlemen at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna, our ‘work family’ as Teri and I refer to you all, you make us look great and we love you all, 7 star all the way.

I  will always remember Sam and Mia’s wedding, because it is as always a remembrance to live each day fully as you never know what is going to happen the next day or even the next moment, lol.  They did not know but it was actually my wedding anniversary, but I loved them so much took their wedding on, it was a daytime wedding (we closed the drapes in the room for the lighting to have full effect) and that night I went and had an awesome massage, my feet were really pampered and I remember being very aware of my feet/ankle areas really getting a good massage, went home and my husband had got Flemings to bring home for dinner, great night, went off to do a wedding the next day and 45 mins before ceremony lost my balance on uneven ground and went over dislocating and breaking my ankle, off to the ER I went, more on that tomorrow ……………….

Till tomorrow

Ritz-Carlton Laguna, fun wedding

Nash_0530 Nash_0541

Well first off, felt more personal than normal because our groom was from Australia and even though I am from New Zealand, we are both from ‘downunder’ living in this big old USofA so anyone you come across feels like family.  I always look even more forward to the toasts when I know someone English, Australian or a kiwi is going to make one, there is a tradition to them we all use no matter what your age is (in fact Peter of Vive Ent likes it so much he called me to get the scoop so he could do the same thing in his toast at his wedding we just had) plus we have a different sense of humor and I am normally in the corner laughing with my hand over my mouth as no one else in the room is getting it or what is being said is going over their heads, aaaaah I am so naughty!

Nash_0715

They booked me for Month of service, but made good use of my preferred vendor list and would email if they had questions during the planning months.  They were such a fun couple, the brides mom was just lovely, and everything they are was reflected in the flowers being more tropical and colorful than we normally see, the chuppah (refomed ceremony thus everyone standing on the non-orthodox side at the ceremony) with the hanging strands that made lovely music when they moved in the wind and their choice of vendors, Frank Salas-thanks for the photos, Karla/Elegant by Design-florals and Peter/Vive for keeping that dancefloor full as always.

They had no need for rentals as the hotel chairs and dancefloor worked for them but the beauty of the Terrace Salon is the walls (as you see in the bottom picture) which really works in the evening with the candle light and the fabulous balcony with the comfortable furniture seating/firepits that the guests really enjoy using.  And of course to the awesome team at the Ritz who help us ensure a five star experience is had by all.

Ritz-Carlton Laguna/Terrace Salon

IMG_0857 IMG_0859

Angie had been in touch with me/social media for a while before she booked me and I just loved her excitement and pleasure with everything we did along the way.  As you can see above her precious dog was in her room dressed in style and the view from her room looking down at Strand beach was just beautiful as always

IMG_0870 IMG_0871

Angie was conflicted, she loved round ball type centerpieces but love the signature Ritz-Carlton Laguna lobby/foyer look, so what the heck we said, lets do both.  Great job Karla/Elegant by Design, the room looked awesome.  Their wedding ceremony was held at the Mission in San Juan Capistrano, so no décor was needed there, its so beautiful/grand on its own.

IMG_0873 IMG_0874 IMG_0876  IMG_0878

The beauty of the Terrace Salon is that the walls have a goldy/pearly look to them so gives a great sheen/feel to whatever look/feel you are going for

    IMG_0911 EMP_1130

From the beginning all George wanted was an In N out run, so of course we made that happen and as always it was a end of event pleaser.

We pulled together an awesome team, Joel/EMP studios, Shane Productions/video, Kelly Zhang team beautified the ladies and of course the ladies and gentlemen of the Ritz-Carlton helped us pull off another awesome wedding celebration.

Till tomorrow

Ritz-Carlton Laguna, Terrace Salon

 0180

Some of you will see the picture above and immediately know the culture involved with this wedding celebration.  Our bride/mother/her side were Persian and our groom/his side were not, but the groom was very happy to have the traditions of the brides culture/background be a big part of their day.  Most of the time a station is setup with fruit on it in a very fancy display and this is available to the guests from beginning to end of the reception.

I loved Sherene and her mom, and our groom was pretty aok too, we had a great time pulling the vision together and it really turned out elegant, soft, beautiful.

Thanks to Flowers by Cina for being a great partner/taking words-thoughts and bringing them to an even better reality.  To D-Park photo for being wonderful to work with and for the pics here, my fave Persian officiant Shahrzad Ardalan for always doing a beautiful elegant ceremony, Design Visage for beautifying everyone.  Naples Strings for the beautiful ceremony music and Monico Decor for the rentals.  And of course to my friends/the fabulous team at the Ritz-Carlton for making dreams come true in the way of reality and memories.

0084 0125 0126 0137

Sherene did not want their backs to the guests, which is normal at a Persian ceremony at a sofreh, as the bride and groom look into a mirror and the guests see their reflection which is an important part of the setup/ceremony, so we flipped them so the guests could see their faces and their backdrop was the beautiful Pacific Ocean, so not traditional but pretty fine.

Till next time

Pavilion Ballroom, Ritz Carlton, Laguna, 2 nights in a row

This doesn’t happen very often but so fun when it does.  I happened to have two weddings two nights in a row in this wonderful ballroom, that doesn’t have the normal cold/big feel associated with the word ‘ballroom’.

Two different looks, both fabulous, two fabulous brides (and grooms), people who travelled from all over the world to each, two similar setups (not the normal setup for this room and funnily enough both these brides were about not splitting the tables up, so we had dining all together and dancing at one end – and the major item they had in common – great guests who danced and danced and danced.  Both events ended around 1:15am with sweaty, happy people, who were there to celebrate and enjoy, and they sure did.

This is why I love my job, never the same wedding, the vision/bride/vendors always different, because I recommend those I know are right for you and throw in a few others so you also know who is right for you. Quality and the right style, working with the budgetted $$ (even if really big) always makes it a fun process, and as with all my weddings, on both these nights I drove to the hotel in anticipation of how wonderful they were both going to look and how happy I knew both my brides would be.  I can see how it will be, but I know for a bride, it really takes for her to come into the room to really realise the full impact of what we spent months/weeks pulling together.  My lovely bride last night, walked into the room and only said one word, but that one word was huge ‘PERFECT’.     Aaaah,

When there is a great sunset, can’t beat the Pavilion & Plaza balcony views

We did a mix of round/square and long tables for this celebration.

For both we did white ‘south beach’ looking furniture/candles etc on the balcony.

Thanks to Katie Clark for the photos above.  I smiled a lot when I saw these, such a great couple and I know Susie the bride has got to be loving her album and the memories of their fabulous celebration it brings back.  Thanks also to Nisie and her team from Enchanted Florist, I knew you were the right choice for her from the get go, Peter/Vive Ent for being just a pleasure to always see and work with, Elysium/Julie for being always so easy to work with.

For the wedding below, the bride & her parents are French Canadian, and they suprised the guests by having the music for start of dancing be by a band/singer/entertainer who is very famous in Canada.  His name did not mean anything to me or it seemed to the grooms side of the family in the room when he came on, but when I saw all the Canadian ladies look shocked, then start to swoon and get their cameras out, I immediately googled him, and yes he is a pretty big deal up there.  Too funny.

Note in the picture above the shape of the dancefloor, this is when you need someone in the room during setup on your side (ie me!) to handle any challenges logically and make it work.  The band had huge equipment and had had the stage made bigger taking up more space into the room and then had huge speakers (this was like concert equipment) that were on the floor infront of the stage.  Band would not move anything, dancefloor guy was at a loss as to how he was to setup the floor as if he started it past the speakers there would be a big carpeted gap between it and the stage, but the space he had to the tables was now not enough space for the size ordered/needed, so he ultimately came to me with his hand up in the air.  Hmmmm, David from Square Root and his team, helped me move every table in that room (some already had the big centerpieces on them) away from the stage area, only by inches for some, but by doing that we gave ourselves the ability to use all the dancefloor pieces and as I was not really into the carpet space infront of the stage, I got creative & had the dancefloor guy work out how to create the T-shape you see.  I loved the end result,

Thanks to Karen French for the photos (she always manages to get a pic of a gazebo lawn cere from above even when the couples room was not in that wing, wonder how??!!  She’s good!!),and  Square Root for the beautiful floral design.

Common to both weddings was my/our use of Fusion for helping me create the right look/feel with the excellent quality chairs/linens/furniture & dancefloor they deliver/setup & same night pick up, all with no drama or excess fees for the couple,  and to Angel the owner who listens and orders new stock of items I know my couples will love/use, and to Design Visage for doing all the hair and makeups, as always keeping everyone on time, and looking great right through to the end of the event, and enhancing my already beautiful two brides .

Till next time

Ritz-Carlton Dana Point

What a great combination, the ocean, an intimate banquet room with a fireplace to create warmth/intimacy, silver linens/white florals/candles and the item that is complimenting all the glass/crystal look this year, acrylic chivairs.  Hard to beat that ocean backdrop.  Congrats to Carol and Jason and thanks to Brandon Wong for these images.  Check out Brandon and Katrina’s website their style of wedding photography is very dramatic and keeps you spellbound looking through their blog.

Till next time

Another lovely Indian Wedding Celebration

I was so looking forward to Shivali and Ankur’s two day celebration at the Ritz-Carlton, Dana Point.

We had started at the beginning with the budgetting and vision, gone through the vendor selections together, put all the details of the two days down in the detailed timeline/script, had a great tasting/floral sample/linens-chair selection day, and then just had to wait to see it all come together.

Two different looks, but the same soft feel both days, very reflective of lovely Shivali.  Friday’s Sangeet had a soft blue look by having Nisie’s Enchanted Florist do boxed florals in blues and whites, we used the hotels blue banquet chairs and soft blue water glasses, put some soft blue uplights around the room, and voila what a soft/relaxing/calm feel we gave the room, which worked so well when the guests arrived in all their vibrant colors and were there to party.  The theme/feel was not competing, it was the backdrop.  A lot of fun was had by all, Shivali had told me it would be all over by 11pm, but it was around 12;15am when I managed to get bride and groom to leave and around 12:40am when a bunch of the guests left.  Who can blame them, cocktails and dinner on a beautiful lawn looking out to the beautiful Pacific ocean, watching the sunset, then coming in to party, and it was so pleasant outside that even at midnight people were outside enjoying the balmy night.

Then the main event, lovely apricot/salmon colors, beautiful ocean backdrop, our groom coming in on the horse and really enjoying himself, I gave them 30 mins to bring him in over only a few hundred yards, and boy did they milk it and have fun.  Beautiful ceremony done by my favorite Indian officant/priest – he explains/talks through the ceremony so well.  Everyone had lunch, lots of great sandwiches, hot and cold, vege and meat.  Then rest/relaxing, until the evening event.  I was thinking the night may end before 1am due to the prior night, but no such thing, 1:45am was when the last guest left.  As you can see with such a beautiful ballroom and cocktail area to hang out in, why would you leave too.

You may have noticed, on each side of the dancefloor was a big X table with seating for around 30 guests.  From our first meeting Shivali had shown me her inspiration picture with a table like that, she loved it.  So of course we made sure that was incorporated into her celebration and they did look fabulous.

Tx to the great vendor team who worked with us to create this wonderful celebration setting:  Amber Event Productions/Lighting (I have worked with Amber and her team a few times now, she is lovely and they do a great job), Nisie’s Enchanted Florist, Fusion for the linens, Classic Party Rentals for the chivaris, and of course the awesome team at the Ritz Carlton and especially Holly from the catering office and Mike and the banquet team hands on in the ballroom.

I got two really lovely emails from my bride and groom the day after and another the following day, thanking me.  They are sunning themselves in the South Pacific about now and I know they will be having a fabulous time.  It was my honor and pleasure to go through the process with them and end up with such a beautiful, fabulous celebration, they and their guests will remember and talk about for a long long time.

Till next time
