Mallorca/Spain wedding

have you ever heard of the island of Mallorca?  it’s off the coast of Spain, easy and inexpensive flights from Barcelona, and the island next door to it is called Ibiza (known as the party island, have i got your attention now??)

Well i spent a week here not too long ago and loved every minute and will go back.  We stayed in villas at Marriott Vacation Club, great for couples/families travelling together to destination weddings, the units were 2 storey and we had our own wee backyard to sit in the listen to the birds/nature, people playing golf in the background, pretty awesome.

It’s an easy island to drive around, the city of Palma has the cathedral and lots of things to see and do and restaurants of course, the coastline has great beach clubs and restaurants to have great food for very inexpensive.  We travelled up to the town that the tennis Rafael Nadal is from, a lovely town, and there are other coastal towns with cliffside restaurants and places to just chill, hang out and appreciate being alive.

I would love to help you have your destination wedding here, large or small, and my travel partner can handle everyone’s air/hotel/transport/group excursions we may do, and after the wedding people can pop off to any part of Europe they want to explore/vacation/enjoy, and you too for the honeymoon.  Nice and easy with us.

Venice Italy wedding

So fortunate that this was my 5th time to Venice.  You can never say you know it inside and out because there are so many areas and alleys and places to get lost in, but from a standpoint of lovely resorts and incredible excursions for your guests to do to make this destination wedding even more magical, yep, it’s all there.

This trip happened to be just about this time last year, so if it was now it would not be happening.  Have plans to be back later in the year, but due to coronavirus we will see.  My US bestie was having a special birthday and my birthday is 5 days after hers, so after a few days toddling around Tuscany doing things we had not done before together there, off to Venice by train we went, nice and easy, and then into our water taxi on the way to the Hotel Danielli where we had a waterfront view room that was just incredible.  We sat on our balcony that really wasn’t a balcony drinking mini bar champagne, yes that is how caught up in the moment we were, lol, and from our standpoint we were giving people joy walking by that saw two lovely ladies living their best lives.  lol

For the first time ever I walked across the bridge of Sighs, amazing!!

So many beautiful ornate hotels and restaurants for wedding celebrations here, let me help you pull yours together, and my travel partner will handle yours and the guests’ air/accommodation/transport and those excursions i mentioned earlier.  When the wedding is over everyone will go their own way to live their best lives in Europe before heading home, and will thank you for the experience they had.  Sooo good.

Bellagio/Lake Como Wedding

I had heard that Bellagio in Las Vegas was  built based on a village in Italy, and it wasn’t until I was heading to Lake Como and someone mentioned Bellagio to me, take the boat over they said, well we had a car and i thought we would drive and spend the night, but my husband said no, lets do the boat.  So we did, we both regretted it, the boat right was excellent, seeing all the views around the lake on the way, but once we saw Bellagio we knew it was a place we would have loved to stay at, so next trip we will.

Perfect for a destination wedding, lots of different accommodations to match guests style/budget, a lovely resort lake front where you could have a lovely wedding event, walk down the road to the Botanical Gardens and have pics there, and then have pics through out Bellagio on your way back to the hotel, where the guests have been having cocktails looking at the lake view and pinching themselves that they are there drinking champagne and that is Lake Como and they are at the real Bellagio, not a duplicate!!

I can help you plan the wedding and my travel partner can handle everyone’s air/hotel/transport, and any pre/post group excursions we want to do!!

Capri

Chic chic chic.  That’s Capri, been twice and will go back again.  From fancy dancy luxury hotels to beach side hole in the wall hotels, you can find it all here and all over the island can find great restaurants/views to enjoy and pretend you came off one of the mega yachts that are always in the bays around.

Let me help you plan your Capri wedding and my travel partner will handle all the guests flight/hotel/transport needs and some group excursions for pre/post wedding, before everyone heads in different directions to explore Italy/Europe after.

French village wedding

Have you ever dreamed of your wedding being in France, in a village that is really cute and quaint and has a merry go round??  Well we stumbled upon this village (and there are a lot like this but I loved this one a lot) when we could not get a room in Strasburg for the night and had to head out of town, sometimes those are the best oops to happen when you are travelling.

When we woke up in the morning and looked out the window, it was an ooooohh moment, so quaint, and a wonderful hotel that with your intimate or larger wedding you could take over the whole hotel.  Your wedding/reception can be there as they have the space/options/areas and you walk out the driveway and are immediately in the center of this really picture perfect village.

I know where it is and can make your French village wedding dream come true and my travel partner can organize your guests air/transfers/hotel and can setup some fabulous excursions for pre/post wedding, and of course being in Europe you can head to wherever you want for your honeymoon and your guests can do the same!

Let me help you do this!!  Bonjour!!

Lots of villages along the route with lovely hotels and wedding spaces and other cute accommodations within walking distance for guests who want to do their own things.  Pre and post activities can be river cruises, wine tastings, village hopping, fun fun

Tuscany wedding

Be still my heart.  I am very fortunate to have been to Tuscany 5 times, last time 11 months ago and in fact was supposed to be heading there this week but due to coronavirus not going, so aiming for a different trip that was planned for later in the year, fingers and toes crossed.  So my US bestie moved here with her Italian husband nearly 3 years ago, they had spent 20 years in the USA and now it was time to have time living there.  This was the place they first moved to, he had gone ahead to get things in order and they have 2 cats, you can only take 1 per person on a plane, so i got to come for a weekend as that was all the time i had at that time, to bring the 2nd cat, lol!!  Pienza was the first town they lived in, they have since moved 2 times and they love where they are now, but i love this town, its my favourite i think, it is everything you imagine a small Italian village to be.

Now i have pics of a great venue, its a farmhouse with rooms so for an intimate group you can stay here and do the pre and post wedding time here and do the wedding here or elsewhere, up to you.  Options are so huge in Tuscany or anywhere in Italy.

Views from the farmhouse where you could have your wedding

Above are all farmhouse pics, it was December when i was there so that is why its not sunny and blue, plus my iPhone takes sucky pics for whatever reason

We went travelling to other villages to eat and see sights

These are thermal pools at a spa hotel, i have since gone back and we went there and it was lovely, it rained while we were sitting in the lovely hot water too, bella

So let’s do your European Destination wedding here in Tuscany, i have people on the ground there, and am fortunate to have been several times, you are in great hands.

Europe wedding

So I was fortunate to head back to Europe in April, and as it was not my first time in Paris (about 5 now I think) and Spain (2nd time) I really looked at everything with weddings in mind, and as happens found and made some suprise decisions.

Of course people think Paris and romance, maybe even their wedding itself. You have gardens and lovely churches and some unique wedding reception venues, ie floating restaurant down the Seine, the banquet room up in the Eiffel Tower (yes there is!!!), restaurants and of course hotels that have banquet space. All great, but if guests are coming in and gathering Paris is not the city to be able to keep people together/bond etc, everyone is going to want to see/do/go in different directions based on their first trip, multi times, and time may be limited for some if they are in Europe for their first time and make your wedding/Paris just one part of their maybe once in a lifetime trip. So this is my thinking……
Use Paris as your pre wedding or after wedding stop, and spend a 1/2 day or full day with your photographer going around Paris in your gown/suit-tux and do a fabulous photo shoot to incorporate into your album. This way no pressure to be somewhere, run out of time and opportunity to get all the locations you want, traffic and protests etc can plug the streets up all the time. Then the wedding itself, start at the Costa del Sol in Spain, there are lots of timeshare/hotels in the area, including 2 great Marriott Vacation Clubs where the units can sleep up to 6, here you can take care of your own breakfasts and even barbeque dinner with the group if you want. Have people arriving into the area say 4 days prior to the wedding date, arrival and next day, nothing, people just relaxing/veging. Next day, mini buses to take everyone to Gibraltar for the day (2 hour drive), have lunch/beer in an English pub and some shopping. Next day, people on own. Next day everyone is bussed to a town called Ronda up in the mountains. Here everyone has 2 nights in the walled town area, maybe a bullfight experience in the afternoon, then dinner at one of the restaurants built on the cliff overlooking the most beautiful gorge you could do this at. Drinking sangria and soaking in the views. After dinner a flamenco dancing show and then party on for those that want. Next day, the wedding. You get married on a lawn/platform area that has views to die for, very Tuscanyesque, cocktails follow, then dinner in area close by with those same views, dancing follows, people walk back to their hotel when they are ready. Next morning, brunch, then driving everyone back to Costa del Sol where it all started, and people now leave from there to home/another location, some may stay in the area longer, who knows. You get to head to Paris for the after shoot (and that night have dinner in the Eiffel Tower Restaurant (must have reservations) and after a couple of nights there head home or onto another location for honeymoon (if needed).

I was shocked when I realised that Spain, its uniqueness/proximity to so much (like S CA, beach-mountains in a couple of hours) and stumbling upon Ronda, would be a fabulous destination wedding experience. I visited Barcelona (2nd time) and Madrid (1st time) and even though they are lovely cities and have their charm and unique qualities, just think the itinerary I created above, gives a much better memorable experience for all involved, yet flexibility for those not looking for bonding time pre or post.

If this sounds appealing, let me know, would love to help you, or pull it together for you.

Romantic Europe

I was lucky enough earlier in 2011 to pop over to Europe and see some parts that are a bit more unique, ie not on the normal tourist trail, as well as the more known.  When it comes to weddings/honeymoons and romance, Europe jumps right in and says ‘ here I am’, and as I travelled along there were just so many great places I could see intimate weddings happening, or larger groups, all being able to inhale the experience and come away with memories for all to cherish.  With everyone seeming to be spread out over great distances, thinking about a wedding in Europe doesn’t mean more expense/travel anymore, especially with airfare wars, hotel cost and if the guests are making it a long weekend or extending their time if the wedding was in say Florida or the Caribbean, why not make it Europe.

Here is where I went, and if any of these locations are appealing to you for a wedding, let me know and we can chat and see where we go from there …..

I started in Lisbon, Portugal, fabulous old city, and drove up the coast to a golf  resort on the coast which has something for everyone especially when it comes to a wedding or vacation following a wedding.

Then to Cartagena, Spain, on the coast, a lovely town where they are still finding ruins under the ground, and they are keeping the facades from the old buildings as the building crumbles behind, and will build new buildings behind, very clever, and it ensures the town keeps the ‘old’ feel.  Lots of lovely backdrops for a ceremony here and then off to a courtyard/piazza for that fun celebration.

Malta, wow, like being in a different world, going back in time.  Doesn’t that sound exotic, wouldn’t your guests make that a must go to celebration, giving them a jump off place for a longer trip around Europe if they wanted.

Split, Croatia – not quite as I imagined it to be, ended up at a small island village that was definately the ‘old world’ feel I was looking for, but I hear Dubrovnik and other parts of Croatia are worth the visit or thought anyway.

Venice, well who doesn’t think romance when they think of Venice.  The great thing about Venice is that you don’t have to stay in the expensive accommodation along the canals, you can stay a short bus ride away and pay much less, yet go in and out of Venice itself enjoying it very easily (so any guest with any budget is taken care of).  Great food, places to sit and people watch, and atmosphere. From a small ceremony followed by an intimate meal somewhere, to the larger celebration this is an easy option to pull together.

Can’t you imagine a small destination wedding having had a ceremony somewhere else in Venice now having a lovely Italian meal at a restaurant like the one above.  Aaaaah.

Then off to Rome, via Sienna and a night in a Tuscany hilltop village.  These are the memories you or your guests will savor forever.  It’s all about time, enjoying it, enjoying the people sitting around with you, eating, drinking, just taking time.  Of course a location like Tuscany is easy for anyone to get to and then they can go wherever they want to after and visit other places before heading home.  Can you imagine your wedding backdrop being hills and hills of wineries in Tuscany, and everyone staying on a piazza at the top of a hilltop village for two nights, fantastic.

Rome of course, fabulous, all the major hotels, so if what is known is what you prefer, as well as the nightlife, and options all close at hand, this is the place for you.  Trevi Fountain where you and your guests toss a coin, ensuring a return trip at some point.  Whether by day or at night, the photo ops this city will give you in your album after, fab u lous.

Let me know where you want to go/what your dream is, and we can make it a reality.

Till next time
