The Caribbean comes to Laguna Beach/Dana Point
Loved my time with Natasha and Jim from beginning to end. We pulled together an awesome vendor team and everything turned out fabulously. Colors, deep blue and bright orange, Natasha told me, and that is what we did, right through to the blue dancefloor.
Natasha is from Jamaica and a lot of the guests were from the islands and other places, so we really wanted to bring her heritage to the celebration. Plus she referred to herself and I called her, our Caribbean queen. Look at the back of her fabulous gown and the bouquet her friend made for her. Yes, she is a bling bling girl, as you will see!
Melissa of Flowers by Cina nailed the Caribbean tropical look, must be because like me she spends a lot of time in the Caribbean and loves it. Look at our beautiful linens for the sweetheart and cake tables from La Tavola, did we say bling bling, and our B&G chairs from Monico Décor as always.
B&G should always look at something pretty if a band stage is no opposite them, cake meet sweetheart table, sweetheart table meet cake, and inbetween we had a magnificent round blue dancefloor with their initials in silver, another fine job by TMMPRO
Doesn’t the ceremony site look awesome, oh and that Pacific Ocean backdrop worked out well too!!
View of the sweetheart table before the lights got dimmed and the uplights went on
Different views from the sweetheart table, cake and other areas.
As always it takes a team, I have already mentioned a couple prior, but here are more. tony Florez photography, some of the pics above are his and the bad ones are mine, lol. Shane Productions/video, xoxoxo. Uncle Larry was the officiant. For music, we had strings for the ceremony, Naples Chamber Music xoxoxoxo, for cocktails we had 2 steeldrummers from Essence Entertainment, and for mceeing and dinner/dancing we had Dj David Krieger. Linens/napkins/chiavaris were from Chiavari chair rentals, and of course, our family at the Ritz-Carlton Dana Point worked with us to ensure a great time was had by the couple in the planning months and on the day, as well as a great experience for all the guests.
Till next time

Balboa Bay Resort-Newport Beach
My lovely Stacy,so enjoyed helping pull her vendor team and vision together, just a lovely special person. Unfortunately it was raining on her day, that doesn’t happen to me very often, but the weird thing is, when it does we all agree in the end the backup we did ended up looking better than we think the original plan would have!! Is that fate stepping in again??!! The ceremony was supposed to be held on the Fountain Patio which I never really liked because there is an exercise room with people in it working out on one side and no blinds, the view above the wall/backdrop to the ceremony is the hotel building, but the neither of the harbor view sites were available so she booked it, but on the good side she was one of the first weddings in the upstairs room that was a restaurant that got turned into banquet space now called the Bayview Room, great views, great dancefloor area already in there and you feel alone up there not in the middle of a busy hotel.
So 1 hour before the wedding the rain just came down, it did stop but by then the ceremony tile area was going to be wet and slippery and I just felt dangerous for everyone, so I ran around the hotel trying to find a room or area that was covered, in case the rain came again, but also with a view or nice backdrop, the banquet room the hotel had as a backup wasn’t doing it for me. I found an outside cocktail area to the ballroom which due to no event in the ballroom could be used, and the ballroom had beautiful chandeliers/high ceiling so we set chairs in there also to give a cathedral kind of feel, and I took the bride down to both areas so she could decide where she wanted to get married, I felt good about both. She picked the outside cocktail area, we then used the comfy banquet chairs instead of the white folding chairs to give a warmer feel and set it up. It turned out aok, the other wedding that was there stayed outside and the guests got wet!! When the ceremony ended and the bridal party had exited, I gave the signal and the mariachis started playing and they then led the guests through the hotel up the stairs to the balcony where the cocktails were going to be, everyone was smiling as they followed.
Stacy wanted all low centerpieces and karla/Elegant by Design did a great job in making them lush, as well as working with us while we waited to work out where the ceremony was going to be. The silver and white palette looked great in this room, it really is a pretty/friendly room. We had the dining all on the carpeted area and the dancefloor was the area infront of the inside bar, giving lots of space and making the dining portion seem more intimate/everyone together. Thanks to Tony Florez/photography, Susanna/Fine Art for another work of art cake, Harpist through Essence Entertainment, and of course Jeff/Moondance Mobile music/dj-always good working with him, rentals through Monico Décor.
Till tomorrow

Marriott Newport Beach wedding
I helped this fab couple pull the vendor team/vision/plan together over the planning months and on the day itself my wonderful Teri actually orchestrated/ran everything. They were a fun group and there were fun details that made this their wedding, including having café lighting over the dancefloor, for an indoor event (normally done outside) , and of course a fun photo booth. We did a mix of round and square tables, tall and low boxed centerpieces, and made use of succulents which was important to Kat from day one. Thanks to a great vendor team on the day, Design Visage for doing great makeup on all the ladies, Newport Bay Productions/video, Paul Uhlar/officiant, DJ Mr Bill/we love ya, Simply Sweet/wedding cake, Monico Décor for the rentals, Karens flowers for bringing her vision to a reality, Essense Entertainment for our great guitarist for cere&cocktails, Larson lighting for the great job with the uplights and café lighting-which looked fab once the lights went down, and of course…………the team at the Marriott. Teri loves doing weddings there and working with everyone.
This is the newest gazebo/ceremony site at the hotel
This is where they got married

Ritz-Carlton Laguna, Sunset Terrace/Plaza wedding
For the past 14 years this has been the room/area I have done the most weddings in, in fact so many we have joked it should be called ‘Lisa’s Plaza Room’. I just love it, very hard to beat the combination of intimacy, ocean backdrop and 5 star service, with hotel rooms also.
Here is another fun, wonderful couple I had the real pleasure of helping plan their wedding celebration. Our groom had a wicked sense of humor and my beautiful bride is from Europe and they are going to have one fabulous life together. They go between their home in one of the beach communities here to the hot Arizona area where his business is based, so pleased they chose here for this celebration. Thanks also to the wonderful team they let me guide them towards, Karla/EBD Florals, Shane Productions/video, Design Visage for enhancing my brides natural beauty and the other ladies, Steve Burdick/dj, Essence Ent/Guitar for ceremony&cocktails, Monico Decor for the rentals, and Tony Florez, as always so easy to work with and thanks for the photos, last but by no means least, our always wonderful team at the Ritz, love you all.

Balboa Bay Resort lovely celebration
Really enjoyed this bride and her mom. Bride was very busy with schooling on the east coast and mom was bi-coastal ending up in the final months here full time. Just lovely lovely ladies, you can tell by the style of the decor/look how they were, as I do feel all ‘looks’ are always a reflection of a bride or couples style/personalities, which they should be, each wedding should not look like it is one of mine!!
They got married in a church over on Balboa Island and at one point we considered duffy boats to get everyone across the harbor and back, it didn’t end up happening, but I think would have been fun and a cool experience for the guests ………….next time!!
We matched the vendor team to the style/look/personality they had/wanted, and it was fabulous. Thanks to http://www.tonyflorez.com for always being soooo easy to work with and for the pics below. Design Visage for making everyone look fabulous as always, all the way until the end of the event (which is important). Keith Laverty for the floral design and for loving these ladies as I did. Essence for providing the pianist that I have worked with many times in the past and did a great job for dinner music. Dj/Mr Bill (a find from one of my brides years ago and so many of my brides pick him now). Fusion Decor for the chaircovers (looks so rich and elegant/warm/inviting after seeing chivaris so often), table linens, furniture for the balcony, and the white dancefloor (which always pulls a look together/finishes it off). Lake Forest limos for getting everyone from A to B then to C, all without effort and trouble. The team at Balboa Bay Club as it was known then, but now Resort, fabulous job and a beautiful cake designed by the passionate Susanne at Sweet Art. A really lovely celebration.
