Beautiful Ritz-Carlton intimate wedding

0022

Love it when a photographer comes up with a new shot at a hotel, great job Joe Latter!!

0023 0281

How’s that for a cake backdrop and a ceremony backdrop, hard to beat and that is why we have so many couples from all over the world choose to get married right here, and this couple was no exception, they came from New York as did most of their guests.  It was all about intimate in size and feeling we wanted to create, thus the one row of chairs circling them as they exchanged their vows

0284 0291 0458 0462

And very popular this year and we have lucked out each time, al fresco dining under the stars.  Don’t you wish you were a guest at this table with this scenery.

0464    0476

I normally don’t post pics with people in them, but the one with the guest during dinner looks like an ad for some kind of cool dinner party to be at, don’t you think??!!

img_8963

And I took this photo during the ceremony which was timed to happen during sunset, isn’t that spectacular.

Thanks to Flowers by Cina for working with us on this one and making it happen, xoxoxxo, and to Naples Strings for playing for a good 4 hours, switching it up as we moved from pre-ceremony to ceremony, to cocktails, to dinner, awesome to work with as always. To Design Visage for beautifying my beautiful bride Sedef, not that she needed it, such a natural beauty, full of grace and just beauty inside and out.  And my fave Rabbi, Rabbi Ian always creates a great ceremony under the Chuppah, and I had the pleasure of enjoying rehearsal dinner with him as my date the night before also!!!  And to our friends for 15 years of doing weddings with them, the banquet team at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna, we love you all for team we are!!

Hyatt Huntington Beach

img_8854

Interesting trend now of couples choosing hotels for their weddings but using the spaces differently or getting creative with the spaces.  Julia did this exact thing by using a traditional ceremony site but then doing dinner/dancing at the Red Chair Lounge a more casual/loungy vibe space.

img_8858 l07a8171

The palm tree pic I took  as sunset was happening, and the rest of the pics are courtesy of Tony Florez, always great to see/work with him.  I loved the colors and the modern tight look Julia went with and that Karen’s Flowers pulled off.  DJ Mister Bill was right on with his music throughout the dancing portion, and Naples provided elegant strings for the Huntington Beach/Pacific Ocean backdrop ceremony

l07a8178 l07a8182    l07a8627 l07a8631

There were 2 cakes, the soda can and the donut were both personal and the guests all got it, and a trend that has been big this season, a small cake for the traditional cutting but cupcakes for the guests to actually eat.  The sweetheart table and we had to go with a more traditional napkin fold (which my brides know I am not a fan of) but there was a wee breeze and the rental napkins were satiny and could not hang off the table without sliding right on off, lol. We love intimate weddings!!

The Caribbean comes to Laguna Beach/Dana Point

img_8092 img_8093

Loved my time with Natasha and Jim from beginning to end.  We pulled together an awesome vendor team and everything turned out fabulously.  Colors, deep blue and bright orange, Natasha told me, and that is what we did, right through to the blue dancefloor.

img_8094 img_8118

Natasha is from Jamaica and a lot of the guests were from the islands and other places, so we really wanted to bring her heritage to the celebration. Plus she referred to herself and I called her, our Caribbean queen. Look at the back of her fabulous gown and the bouquet her friend made for her.  Yes, she is a bling bling girl, as you will see!

substandardfullsizerender-4

Melissa of Flowers by Cina nailed the Caribbean tropical look, must be because like me she spends a lot of time in the Caribbean and loves it.  Look at our beautiful linens for the sweetheart and cake tables from La Tavola, did we say bling bling, and our B&G chairs from Monico Décor as always.

substandardfullsizerender-5 substandardfullsizerender-6

B&G should always look at something pretty if a band stage is no opposite them, cake meet sweetheart table, sweetheart table meet cake, and inbetween we had a magnificent round blue dancefloor with their initials in silver, another fine job by TMMPRO

l07a2161

Doesn’t the ceremony site look awesome, oh and that Pacific Ocean backdrop worked out well too!!

As always it takes a team, I have already mentioned a couple prior, but here are more.  tony Florez photography, some of the pics above are his and the bad ones are mine, lol.  Shane Productions/video, xoxoxo.  Uncle Larry was the officiant.  For music, we had strings for the ceremony, Naples Chamber Music xoxoxoxo, for cocktails we had 2 steeldrummers from Essence Entertainment, and for mceeing and dinner/dancing we had Dj David Krieger.  Linens/napkins/chiavaris were from Chiavari chair rentals, and of course, our family at the Ritz-Carlton Dana Point worked with us to ensure a great time was had by the couple in the planning months and on the day, as well as a great experience for all the guests.

Ritz -Carlton Laguna wedding

i-4JL2nKN-L

They booked me for Month of service before they even booked the hotel and when the service officially kicked in, David said two things to me which I loved….. We should have booked you for the bigger service, I have no idea how you do what you do, dealing with vendors was so frustrating.  What can we do that would be really unique?

Well thank you David, when you love what you do it’s not work and it’s easy and how about a champagne lady??!!  We had the champagne lady greet the guests at cocktail hour and then again she was in the ballroom when they came in and they took a glass for the toasts. They had my preferred vendor list and made some good decisions along the way and actually did ok considering they were a destination wedding.

i-fJmqtsq-L i-hR6tc8M-L

Sweet/simple look for the ceremony, with that backdrop you don’t need more

i-JN6ktXR-L i-NDqMfLn-L

We had a bling photo backdrop at one end of the room

i-pv2z8Rs-L

An old fashioned floral combination for the sweetheart table but it really looked lovely

Our groom wanted a cool dj booth and Revelry Event Design had a few to choose from

Thanks to Lin & Jirsa for the pics and being so great to work with, they wore many hats for this one, photo/video/photobooth/drone, TMMPRO for my fave dancefloors and decals, Jason Jass/Visions Entertainment/dj for being a pleasure to work with, the lovely ladies at Design Visage for beautifying our bride/moms/bridesmaids, and the team at Ritz-Carlton as always, love love love you all for helping me create wonderful memories for couples and their family and friends, for over 15 years now.

Huntington Beach & Hotel wedding

IMG_0351 IMG_0496

The beach theme made its way across the street to the placecard table, driftwood and orchids, love it.  There wasn’t a memorable enhancement they weren’t up for, doves at the end of the ceremony, even on the beach, yes please.

IMG_0081IMG_0646

Great shoe shot by Frank Salas, great looking shoes but not worn much that day by our lovely bride, as always!!  The pic above on the right is the surfboard martini luge which was a huge hit

IMG_0676

Such a great time working with these two on the planning of their wedding.  They were the third referral from someone I know in Arizona, my Arizona couples love the beach and that is where the weddings are held.  During the planning a baby was even born!!  So Nick is a surfer and we had a martini luge created of a surfboard which was out on the balcony with the Pacific Ocean in the background, and Annemarie was such a great bride in trusting and going along with a lot of my thoughts on how to make their wedding look fabulous.

IMG_0689

They sat at a great B&G table, and we had my fave, the round dancefloor in attendance.

IMG_0697 IMG_0699

We mixed up the tables, rounds and rectangles, and that meant a variety of floral looks

IMG_0703 IMG_0719 IMG_0728 IMG_0732

Behind the sweetheart table was a round room, we tried to do the first hanging cake in that room but it just did not work out, so instead had the cake sit on a great acrylic table display and created a cool sitting area.

SubstandardFullSizeRender 2

The wedding ceremony was originally booked at the hotel but as time went along Annemarie asked about getting married on the beach and as they were before Memorial Weekend it was able to happen and look how empty the beach is, so lucky.  Wendy Smith/my fave harpist loved the stage/platform that was made for her, and the ceremony décor was a mix of driftwood and strung orchids moving in the wind, it was really lovely

SubstandardFullSizeRender 5 SubstandardFullSizeRender 6

You need to always look after the guests when doing a beach/sand wedding and the Waterfront Beach Resort were so fabulous in making everything happen and create a great station for the dry and damp cloths for our guests feet.

SubstandardFullSizeRender

We had an awesome team on board for this one, Frank Salas/photographer-thanks for the ballroom pics/the beach pics are mine, Scott Cummings Music band Dirty Sugar, Design Visage for beautifying everyone and ensuring their looks withstood the ocean wind, Square Root Designs for the florals/futniture/linens-we love them so much. Carving Ice for the martini luge-it turned out even better than I had hoped.  Chiavari Chair Rentals for the ghost chairs and dancefloor, Shane Productions/video, Clint Hufft for doing a great ceremony as always, White Flite the best dove release company out there and I always do 100/most impact, and of course Vanessa and the team at the Waterfront Beach Resort.  It was great being back there again, and very exciting with their renovations and new ballrooms and ceremony space that will be on board in the next year, but I have to say, combining the beach with a room at the hotel that looks over to the beach is pretty hard to beat.

Last St Regis, Monarch Beach wedding

FullSizeRender

Here is the new Grand Lawn Ceremony site at the Monarch Beach Resort, formerly the St Regis Monarch Beach, and these pics are from a wedding that was planned for around 15 months and happened a few days before the name change.  So as things happen along the way, the vision our bride had for her ceremony changed with hotel changes and she didn’t end up with her final vision until a few days before, I think it looked lovely.  By taking away the rotunda somehow the ocean seems right there, and I now get more of a Caribbean backdrop feel, where the pool seems to end at the ocean.

0791 0794

Down at Club 19 we did a mix of round and rectangle tables.  This was a daytime wedding, so the colors really worked well and gave an elegant feel.  The ceiling treatment turned out perfect for Jennifer’s style, our original vision was about 15 chandeliers hanging in a variety of sizes and styles but that really was too shabby chic for her, and this more elegant ceiling was done by a vendor Jennifer found OCLA events, they really did a great job.

0797 0801

Jennifer and Brook lived out of town/northern CA but are fortunate that they come down often and always stay at the hotel, in fact their fave butler came down and sabred the champagne bottle for them prior to the toasts, so they were able to keep an eye on how the changes at the hotel were coming along.

My new fave vendor for 2016, TMMPRO, I love their dancefloors

These last two pics are mine.  The one above shows the chandeliers on, and the pic on the right show how huge the ceremony florals were that were repurposed to some of the dining tables.

Other members of this great vendor team were, Joe Latter photo/thanks for the pics above, Krieger Style dj (they had a guy they knew who was the dj, he let them down so they then spent time on a band that didn’t work out and ultimately ended up with my dj David,  the right guy, as always), Vantage Productions/Video, Elegant by Design/floral, Paul Uhlar/officiant, Wendy Smith/harpist,  Laura at the ST Regis and of course the setup/banquet team on the day.

Got lots of lovely weddings coming up this year, can’t wait to share them all with you.

Lovely Thank You

Its always so great to get a Thank you from a bride months after their wedding.  By that time I have thought they have moved on, I move on and then voila, I realize I have been on their mind, makes me feel so good

So I went to the PO Box looking for something specific and found this and it made my day.  It’s a handwritten card from a wedding we did in September, Teri actually ran the event on the day………………

Dear Lisa,

I have wanted to write you since the wedding, but the honeymoon, holidays, birthday, and even a car accident, got in the way.  You are among my big ‘thank yous’.  All of your hard work, effort, time, and sincere caring about the event made for a wonderful experience for Joe and I.  The day went exactly how we envisioned and it was so beautiful.  Everything co-ordinated so seamlessly and appeared effortless in the end.  Teri was wonderful at the function and I hardly knew she was there.  The suggestions for vendors were great, and we can honestly say we wouldn’t have done anything differently.

Lisa, thank you for making our day fantastic for us.  It truly was a gift.  You are very talented and we wish you the best.

Nancy and Joe

2016 wedding specials

Well sometimes brides are in the right place/right time or flexible, and when hotels have space sitting open they are looking to fill them.

Here are a couple of great offerings that I can help you with if you are willing to play:

Want to get married prior to the end of June and just haven’t done anything about it, well this may light the fire.  One of the top hotels/locations in the OC is offering their premium space at very reasonable F&B minimums if you are open to a Mon-Thursday wedding.  Now it may seem strange, but if most of the guests are travelling too and taking extra time, then doing it during the week is not going to be a bother for the guests, in fact air can be cheaper than flying on weekends and I know that a lot of vendors see a weekday wedding as a bonus and are quite flexible with their fees, with the exception of florists of course, they have product that still needs to be paid for.  So small or large, consider a weekday it is really a benefit to you. And if they have Fri-Sundays open yes sirree they are wanting to make it work.  Give me a call, lets chat and see what we can do.

If S CA is not really for you, or you are looking for June-October, then lets head to Mexico, so many great locations, ie Cabo, Cancun, and some of the resorts in the Playa del Carmen region are pretty fabulous, very spread out and you get the beach as well as vegetation to not feel like you are in a concrete jungle like Cancun (which is absolutely fabulous for those wanting action) and you are close to the really quaint restaurant row area of Playa which is what you kind of hope you are going to experience while in Mexico.  So let me know if any of this sounds like you and lets get it going:

If you are 30 people total or under, $15,500 gives you:

For the B&G, airport transfers, Comp room on the wedding night, room upgrade, late checkout, 1 50 minute massage each, access to the lounge, brides hair and makeup on wedding day/including a trial, bouquet and bout

Your ceremony is held at an oceanview gazebo decorated with fabric and flowers, petal aisle, and an officiant/English.

A violinist is included for cocktail time, as well as, 4 hour bar, and a dj

Hors D’oevures and dinner and wedding cake.  They do different levels of food/beverage offerings, so based on your personal preference you could end up at $18,300 for the same size group, and of course they would never turn anyone away, there is a per person rate you can add on if you are 31 or more total.

Your guests get 15% off spa services, 10% off breakfast the morning after the wedding, arse a special wedding rate for accommodations.

Till next time

Indian wedding/St Regis Monarch Beach

rajaram_1010 rajaram_1043

For the first time ever I saw a couple of smaller Indian weddings come to me and what that allowed them to do was have their wedding at  the premium hotels in the OC using the smaller spaces and stay within budget.  Normally the hotel celebration is the third day of events, so they have to be really good about choices as they go along.

rajaram_1055 rajaram_1056

This couple along with many of my Indian couples, did another ceremony and event at the Sikh temple the day before.  So here you get to see their Indian Ceremony setup with the elephants greeting the guests, the mandap, ganesh statue, and what a backdrop they have. My fave Indian officiant Shikavek Dasa ran the show, he does such a great ceremony

rajaram_1062 rajaram_1679

They wanted different colors than the normal Indian Orange/gold/red (which most of my couples seem to not want) for the luncheon event, blues and golds.  Turned out quite great.

Thanks to Frank Salas/photo for the pics above, you are a pleasure to work with always, in fact getting ready to leave now and do another wedding with you today, yay

Four Seasons Westlake Village-two day celebration

photo 2 photo 3

We did Arjun’s cousin’s wedding and were thrilled to help him and Jennifer with their celebration, and to see the Aunties and cousins at both weddings.

We did a Sikh ceremony at the hotel, so created a ‘temple’ in one portion of the ballroom on day one

photo 4 photo 5

That was followed by a luncheon/party in the remainder of the ballroom, then everyone got to rest and do whatever they wanted that night.  As a side note, that ballroom has the most and the most beautiful chandeliers I have seen in a ballroom for a long time, just stunning.

Jenny-Arjun-Wedding-0908 Jenny-Arjun-Wedding-0911

Then on day 2 we had a late afternoon Christian style ceremony, the hills/trees beyond were just a beautiful backdrop if ocean is not your thing

Jenny-Arjun-Wedding-0950 Jenny-Arjun-Wedding-0952 Jenny-Arjun-Wedding-1119 Jenny-Arjun-Wedding-1120 Jenny-Arjun-Wedding-1121

Then into the smaller ballroom space, the round room with cocktails on the patio around looking at the waterfall/other ceremony space the hotel has/is famous for.  The draping behind the sweetheart table here is blown out, it actually was organza with little lights through it, it was quite pretty.  Lavender and pink were the dominant colors with gold accents and of course a white dancefloor.  Compared to the brightness the day before, this was the opposite and was a wonderful reflection of our bride, soft and beautiful.

Jenny-Arjun-Wedding-1122 Jenny-Arjun-Wedding-1123

Thanks to Harper Point Photography/Kara who were flown in for the wedding, and got me the pictures above, thanks for being lovely to work with.  We had our friends Robles Video with us for both days, and Design Visage did the makeup for the ladies on both days, and they looked fabulous from beginning to end.  The team at the hotel were just a joy to work  with and I look forward to seeing them again soon.
