Such a lovely beach side wedding.  You must be a member of the beach club to have a wedding here.  That view is pretty hard to beat.  Lots of cute touches.  Thanks to Joe Latter for the photos, Design Visage for keeping Lauren’s hair and makeup look great all event in the elements, Monico Décor for the rentals, and of course the team at the Beach Club who were so fabulous and wanting to help me with everything.

Wine Room – St Regis Monarch Beach – wedding

photo 7

There is always something to be said when you are able to keep your guest list to a minimum, go crazy on linens/décor and treat your guests to a food and beverage experience, especially when the bride is a celebrity chef, you know the food and beverage is going to be eagerly anticipated.  Along with the brides moms involvement, we created a warm environment in a ‘cooler’ room (wine cellars/rooms are always at a lower temperature, don’t forget that, so pashminas were provided for the ladies) and it turned out fabulous.  Karla/Elegant by Design jumped right on board and ‘got it’, Monico Décor provided the linens/overlay for the whole table and chivaris and chair toppers, Peter of Vive Ent kept the corner dancefloor filled.  This was one bride who when I said to order tea sandwiches for after hair/makeup has been finished so the ladies would have something to eat pre cere beginning, knew what I meant and had a beautiful display of tea sandwiches pre-ordered, I did a bit of quality control on the taste and can attest to the fact that St Regis did them beautifully as they would be done in a lovely English tea room!!! Thanks to Eileen at the St Regis that was hands on and all over the place to ensure everything from the hotels standpoint went well, and of course the banquet, beverage  and culinary teams who out did themselves.  Just as I love it when guests applaud as a bride walks up an aisle or the parents do, I really love it when a chef comes into the room and he gets a standing O!!!

Canadian couple wed at St Regis

photo 3

Really enjoyed helping Dallen and Dean pull their wedding together from another country!!  They got married at my favourite site at St Regis Monarch Beach, Botanical Garden, and had a lovely intimate dinner/dance reception in the wine cellar.  Their family/friends that came in only found out a few days before that they were going to be attending a wedding, and no one left back in Canada knew that was what was going to happen down here in S CA.  So there was no social media happening on this day.  Great fun group.

Hyatt Huntington Beach, Vista Ballroom

This wedding had a lot of lovely details involved.  Mom had a vision and really pulled everything together.  She booked me for Month of service, but used my preferred vendor list and checked in at times for advise.  The end result was quite lovely as you can see.  Thanks to Frank Salas for the photos, Design Visage for making our bride look so fabulous.  Dj Mister Bill for always keeping the crowd going and he got lots of kudos that night.  Tomgirl for great cake and Monico Décor for as always working with me to get everything done as I need it done.  No ceremony pictures on this one as they got married at a church, and I was only at the hotel handling everything there, so they could relax and enjoy the church service knowing all was under con.

Ritz-Carlton Laguna

Such a lovely couple, so enjoyed working with them.  A quiet Sunday just before 2014 came in sight and the weather

was gorgeous for them.  Good things always come to good people.  As there was nothing else happening on the property that day, we did the ceremony on one side of property and then the guests got a nice tour as they were escorted to the other side of property for cocktails and dinner/dancing.  Not very often you can do that. So their guests got the best of both worlds, ceremony backdrop of the Pacific Ocean to Catalina Island and to the south and north, cocktails overlooking Ritz Cove and Salt Creek Beach/Monarch Beach, then into the ballroom for dinner and dancing.  Thanks to Albert Tabibian for the photos.

Hyatt HB Mariners Ballroom

What a great couple, style and fun!!  The groom’s sister was an integral part of the planning along with the couple, so they booked me for Month of service.  When the service began I was pleased to see some of my fave vendors were on board already, and they had good components which I was able to help/suggest to them how to pull it altogether and lay things out for the most impact.  They were planning on the cake in a different location, but think you will agree, cake being visible and focus is big to me, and it looks great where we put it.  We had the space, so instead of doing a square dancefloor, we lay it as a diamond shape, started doing that last year and it really has given some impact to the end result, and I am a fan of mixing up the tables, so I suggested we did the long/rectangle tables for family/bridal party up by the sheart table.

The Mariners Ballroom is probably my fave room at the Hyatt HB, I know everyone wants the rooms with the windows/ocean view, but you can create such cool areas/space with the way Mariners is laid out.  I just love playing with it and creating a unique experience for the guests.

Thanks to Frank Salas for the photos below, and as always being a pleasure to work with/have on the vendor team, as well as the fabulous team at Square Root, Invisible Touch djs, Christopher Garren for that awesome cake, Hollywood Candy Girls for the cute candy table, and of course Mark and the team at the Hyatt HB, for as always being a great team to be a part of (for the past 12 years) .

Hyatt HB/same room 2 days

I am fortunate to have been on the preferred vendor list at the Hyatt Huntington Beach since it opened, think that is about 12 years now, and that means I have had the honor of being involved with many weddings in the Vista Ballroom, all different based on my lovely bride’s budgets/style/vision/vendor selections.  Below are two weddings I did in the Vista ballroom, two nights in a row, this is where you get to see the same room and how different it can look.  Thus my job is never boring…………

The ceremony below goes with the reception picture above.  Pretty ceremony and then a dramatic look in the reception room.  Thanks to Frank Salas for those two photos, and to Jeremy Chou for the top picture.  Both photographers are great to work with.  Fusion Décor provided the white and black dancefloors, chivaris, linens.  The team at Hyatt HB as always, love working with them all.

Great job with the florals Karla of Elegant by Design, I especially loved the way the cake looked, those peonies were just glorious, and we also had a bit of fun with casino tables provided by Fusion for entertainment along with the dancing portion of the celebration.

Terranea Resort

Here in S Ca we wedding planners are very lucky to work at some of the top 5 star/5 diamond hotels/resorts in the world, and people spend a lot of money to come from all around the world to enjoy these locations, but we tend to not take the time or get to do that ourselves, so it was time……

I had a window mid summer during the week, so spent 30 hours at Terranea and felt like I had been away for a week. OUr room was lovely and was on the ground level so our patio opened right onto the grass which was great for access to get around. We watched the sunset with a drink in hand at the restaurant that is on the cliff and an added bonus in the summer is a pop up barbeque/picnic style bench area right next door that has live music. A lot of locals walk through that area with their dogs for their evening walk and some even stopped for a glass of wine/to watch the sunset etc. There was a large firepit with rocking chairs etc around it, and it was fun seeing people chatting/interacting that when they first sat down did not know each other. We then went over and had dinner at the large restaurant on the other side of property by the pool, the food was delicious. We sat outside and on a lovely summer evening didn’t really need the heat lamps but they did make it comfortable to where it was hard to leave when we were done. We saw through facebook that some friends were also at the resort, so private messaged them, then met them up after dinner on the upper terrace and had a night cap infront of the lovely fireplace up there.
Next day, a lazy morning, went and got breakfast at the spa and enjoyed it sitting on a chaise looking out over the Pacific, so lovely. Then made our way to the adult pool closer to the ocean on the other side of property and spent the rest of that day there until 5pm, having lunch and cocktails and just enjoying the view, when it was time to head south and home.

If you are looking for a taste of an Italian getaway without going to Italy, this is the place for you. And it’s not a half bad place to celebrate your wedding at either!!!

Fabulous time

Hyatt Huntington Beach celebration

It was such a pleasure to do/be a part of this celebration, the groom was a brother of a bride I had done her wedding with last year, and that bride was a friend of a bride I had done the year before, and it looks like I may be doing another friends wedding next year, love it. So not only was this a great way to see past brides and catch up with them, I was suprised to have one of my past brides I did not realise even knew this family be in attendance at the wedding, how fabulous was that, 3 of my past brides in attendance, and I just loved the parents of the groom so seeing them again and working with them was really nice.
