The Ranch Laguna Wedding

This was a really fun Destination wedding to help plan.  Danielle, her sisters and mom all came into town for her tasting/detail meeting and made a really vacay out of it together, it was great.

I had done a wedding here years ago under the former property name/design, but this was my first as the new Ranch at Laguna and it was finished just in time, which was a great thing as we had most of the sleeping rooms/wanted everyone staying there also.

As always we get our deer spotting in at dusk, its so great to be so close to the beach/craziness of Laguna, but be in this canyon and feel like you have travelled miles to get here

During the course of planning we toyed with the idea of doing the dining under the trees on the golf course, but ultimately did not, so I am still looking for a couple wanting to do that, DM me, lol.  We did the ceremony on the upper lawn area, cocktails on the patio area between the ceremony and main ballroom areas, and did the dining/dancing on the ballroom balcony, ending at 10pm so we didn’t get in trouble with noise ordinances.

The framing was done over the dancefloor solely to hand a chandelier from and give a frame to the dining/dancing area, but didn’t hurt to add lighting which at night was really pretty.

Great vendor team on board: Joe Latter Photographer, Video/The Emotion Picture Studio, Design Visage did hair/makeup, EBD Floral really ‘got’ the brides vision, Jeff/Moondance Mobile Music handled music in all areas, Luxe Linens provided the linens+napkins, Chiavari chair rentals provided the chairs and OCLA provided the chandeliers/framing/lighting.  Lovely to work with the ladies at the Ranch now, all who came from other places that i knew them from.  xoxox

Till next time

Ritz Carlton Laguna Wedding Celebration

Bob is a VIP guest/client of the Ritz-Carlton Laguna, so it was quite the honor to be asked if i would plan/help them create a wonderful wedding experience.  Of course, it was my pleasure………..  Ceremony officiated by Bishop Brian on the Bluff Lawn with pre/ceremony & cocktail music by my favourite harpist Wendy, then a 100 white dove release while they kissed, always a guest pleaser!  The groom is known for always being on his phone, he is a very busy business man, so once the bride got up the front she asked for his phone, which was in his pocket and she threw it over the cliff, you should have heard the shrieks from the guests knowing what this may mean to the groom, in fact after the ceremony two guests went down and found it and brought it back, at that point they had realized it was a fakey, but boy that was soooo funny.

Cocktails on the Pavilion Balcony with that magnificent Pacific Ocean view, and then into Pavilion Ballroom for the dinner/dancing, mceeing & awesome music by Full Spectrum Band who always knock it out of the park.  Due the guest’s attending the groom was quite concerned as he had never seen the band perform that i may not have got it right for them, but on the night with a full dancefloor from beginning to end, he hugged me and understood that I would never steer anyone wrong!!  Frank Salas did the photography and has done many events for them since, Shane Productions/video, Design Visage hair/makeup, EBD floral exceeded expectations as always, Luxe Linens for the ballroom linens and napkins, TMMPRO did the lighting/chiavaris and dancefloor+decal as always for me.  That fabulous Suitcase cake was done by the Ritz Wedding Cake team, our couple travels a lot, in fact their honeymoon was on the Orient Express Train in Europe (which i have done also, pretty amazing).  Their bestman was an Aussie who lives here now, kept me in stiches throughout the event, we downunder people have wicked sense of humors, lol.  And of course to our partners at the Ritz-Carlton, we really are a great team, xoxox

Till next time

Ritz Carlton 25th Wedding Anniversary

What an elegant beautiful couple, inside and out, and family/families/friends.  They went all out to celebrate their 25th paying for everyone to fly in from all over the country to Dana Point and stay at the Ritz-Carlton.  100% Destination Wedding Celebration.

The night prior there was a fun party on a yacht for dinner/socializing while cruising around Newport Harbor, bussing everyone to/from the hotel.

Then on the day everything Wendy and i had facetimed on, talked about, planned, became a reality and she/they were thrilled.  This was just a pleasure to be involved in.

We had the perfect vendor team of course: Frank Salas/Photographer – thanks for the pics above, Design Visage got all the ladies even more beautiful, White Doves/White Flite, were released at the end of the ceremony which was officiated by a cousin, Naples Strings provided by ceremony/cocktail music and then Peter/Vive Entertainment took over inside the Plaza Room for the dinner/dancing portion.  Dancefloor/draping/chairs/chargers were all by Chiavari Chair Rentals, and Square Root of course did the most beautiful florals, ivory linen underlays, and provided a cool dj façade to hide Peter behind, lol.  Luxe Linens provided the most beautiful overlays we had on each dining table and Lounge Appeal did the furniture setup on Plaza Balcony, which totally reflected the elegance of Wendy.  Everything was soft and beautiful.  Thanks to our team mates at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna, we hit it out of the park every time together, xoxoxxo

Monarch Beach Wedding Reception

Thought I had blogged this one 3 years ago, but guess i did not because here it sits in draft!!!  Oh no.  So here we go…. Aida and Samir, what sweet sweet souls they are.  He is actually a DR on the front line in NY right now during coronavirus, so thank you xoxox  Since the wedding Aida and i communicate via Instagram DMs it seems daily, lol, and i have watched them get pregnant, have a doll of a daughter, and in fact while i was typing this she DMd me that they were supposed to be in New Zealand right now on vacation, Oh well, you will get there and it will be worth the wait for sure.

The groom’s sister was very helpful in the planning as she had been married not too long prior and the groom’s parents were just lovely.  The brides family all flew in from London and there is so much love in that family, her younger brother, like 12 years old was a riot during the reception, and guests came from all around the world.

There was no ceremony, this was the big party/celebration and it was all outdoors on the Botanical Lawn at Monarch Beach Resort.  There was a bit of a breeze before the party started but it calmed down before we started cocktails inside Club 19 and was perfect when everyone was out in the open tent for dinner/dancing.  Mix of photos from me and John Woods Photographer here sorry, but wanted you to see all the angles/views, it really was a lovely end result.  EBD did all the florals and Persiano provided all the rentals.

As always thanks to our friends at MBR both in the office and on the ground on the day of, we can’t do a thing without you, so thanks for being a great team to play with xoxox

Till next time

Hyatt Newport Beach Outdoor Wedding

Caitlyn and Albert were fun, we had an awesome tasting and Grandma came along!!

Everything was outdoors, the ceremony at the ampitheatre, cocktails infront of the main lobby with the firepits/seating areas, dining under the trees/stars and then inside 2/3 of the Garden room for dancing and photobooth until late.

thanks to Victoria Johanson photographer for the pics above, Shane Productions/video, Design Visage for hair/makeup, Karen’s Flowers, Paul Uhlar for his always lovely ceremony, Simply Sweet Cakery for the cake-which we had in the party room/always a good way to get everyone to a different area, Naples Strings for ceremony/cocktail music and Jeff/Moondance Mobile Music for the mceeing/dinner music and dancing music in the party room.  To TMMPRO who do about 98% of my weddings, for the chargers/chiavaris and the excellent lighting you see in the trees around the dining area.  And to the team/ladies at Hyatt NB, always lovely to be there.  xoxox

Hyatt Huntington Beach Wedding

Well this was a lovely one.  I had done the groom’s sister’s wedding a few years earlier at the Ritz Laguna where the dad, bride and i planned that wonderful wedding, and then i get a call from the dad saying guess what, time to do my son’s wedding.  I was in!!

It was an intimate group, under 60, and they had the Vista Ballroom, so we got creative with the setup, did the dancefloor as a diamond which meant we could space all the tables around the edges and no one was in the 2nd row!!  We used most of the vendors we had at the sister’s wedding but some were already booked, it all turned out beautiful and i wish they had more children, but it was just the two!! boo hoo, lol

Thanks to Jacqueline Kay Photography for always being lovely to work with, Paul Uhlar for his lovely ceremony, TMMPRO for the lighting/draping/dancefloor&decal, Sweet Traders for the cake, Karen’s Flowers (no insta or website) and DJ Mister Bill who sadly is no longer doing weddings, all fabulous and perfect for this intimate wedding.  And of course to the team at Hyatt HB, always a joy being with you all xoxoxox

Hyatt Huntington Beach wedding

Jill and Jonathan are awesome.  They live in Huntington Beach and Jonathan is a volleyball player that lives at the beach, so having their wedding celebration at Hyatt HB was a no brainer.  When they booked me to help them plan/orchestrate their wedding we had one date and along the way it changed and I was already booked at the hotel for another couple, so the cool thing was, even though Nicole/one of my Day of Co-ordinators, orchestrated their event on the day, I was able to go over and see how everything looked and hug this great couple.  They did not want the sunset angle or straight on to the lighthouse for the ceremony so we angled the ceremony towards Vista Ballroom and the pics turned out aok, have actually done this a couple of times now, then the guests had cocktails on the Vista Balcony looking out to the beach that Jonathan loves so much, and then in to Vista Ballroom, where we have done the majority of our wedding celebrations at Hyatt HB and i think more in that room than anyone else!!

And my time with them continued, they honeymooned through me at Sandals in Granada in a beautiful suite with an infinity pool on their balcony and an awesome view of the resort looking out to the ocean, and now 3 years later through Instagram we like each others posts and i get to go through their fertility struggle with them  xoxox

Thanks to Nicole and the team for ensuring a great celebration for them and their guests, Joel Austell/photo, Design Visage for prettying the ladies up, Jim Vita/Guitarist for cere/cocktail music, Peter/Vive Entertainment for the dinner/dancing music & mceeing, Sweet Traders for the beautiful cake, EBD Floral as always great job, TMMPRO for my favourite round dancefloor & decal/draping/lighting/chiavaris, Luxe linens for linens/napkins and of course to the peeps at Hyatt Hb for always being wonderful to work with, go team!!!  xoxxo

Till next time

Another Hyatt HB wedding

Karen and William were just a pleasure.  Soft/gentle/kind, and their celebration gives a glimmer of that to those in attendance and then in photos after.  We did a mix of long and round tables, using hotel linens but rental napkins and cake table linen.  They were in the Huntington Ballroom and had a linear headtable which they wanted their backs to the windows as they had a band/Lucky Devils, and they needed to be along the service wall, but they didn’t want the windows as their backdrop, so TMMPRO draped the windows the length of the headtable and also provided the dancefloor and their custom decal as well as the acrylic chiavaris and lighting, thanks as always.

Design Visage prettied the ladies up, EBD floral did their magic in both areas, Naples Strings were our pre/cere/cocktail music, and McCunes were the photographers and i think for once it is all the photographers pics here, none of mine, so either i was really busy to get the shots i needed/wanted, lol, or Gloria and Cory were perfecto!!  And of course to our family at Hyatt HB where we have worked since the day the hotel opened, about 17 years now, we love you and thank you for helping us make dreams come true

Another fabulous Pelican Hill Wedding

Such a lovely couple and the bride’s mom was awesome, it was a joy to work with them on this wedding.  We had some cool elements, the hedge wall above with real orchids on it was on the side patio of the ballroom and the Photobooth backdrop, i have brought in a white baby grand piano a few times at this venue for the ceremony music, very chic!!

Linens for the dining tables and our placecard table were from Luxe, we used the same linen as the placecard table had, a lovely shimmery chevron style on alternating tables in the ballroom, and the draping of the walls and the ceiling behind the sweetheart table where we had the bridal party tables and the cake on a stage was amazing, done by Chiavari Chair Rentals as well as providing the benches/tables we used on the ballroom side patio for people to enjoy during the dancing/socializing portion of the event.

Florals were by the fabulous Nisie of Nisie Enchanted Florals, love and don’t get to work with her enough!!  We did a mix of tall/low centerpieces which just like it does in photos gives a different look in each photo, it has the same effect on the guests!

My fave band, who did it again, provided the pianist and Adam sang for the cere, keyboard/sax for cocktails, then kept that beautiful round dancefloor i love full after dinner, Full Spectrum Music.  xoxox

Lighting/dancefloor/B&G sofa and chiavaris – TMMPRO, fab as always

Victor Sizemore Photographer was on board and the good pics above are his, the dark ones are mine because i was looking for different angles/reasons then he would have been, so sorry about that, lol.  Video by The Emotion Picture Studio, I have been working with Marc and his team for over 20 years, they are so unobtrusive compared to many companies i see, you need to take that into account everyone!!  Design Visage was on board to beautify the ladies and kept them on time as usual, yay!  And of course the team at Pelican, all including the pastry chef who makes those wonderful cakes, the sales/service team and the staff on the floor the day of the wedding, without you working with me during the planning and execution on the day, i am nothing, lol.  Thank you xoxox

Bella Collina wedding

This was such a beautiful wedding story to be a part of, and during the ceremony and in the ballroom we had signs via birds and dragonflies that those that had departed were there and happy for them!!!  I’ve said it before and i will keep saying it, if you are not wanting or having ocean as your ceremony backdrop, this would be my choice!!  just gorgeous.

The ballroom has 2 sides of 4 that are windows and one opens to a side patio, which is a great place for the photobooth and bar.  Bella Collina has the wine barrels and we use them at all weddings somewhere.  Below we added personal items to the ‘fireplace’ area in the ballroom.

For once i had a photographer that took the same photos i did and need/like, hers were much better than my iPhone ones tho, thus the reason you hire a pro, lol, thanks to Marie Sam.  My trusty side kick was with me on this one providing all the music, Peter/Vive Entertainment, and we both love working with and have known Karen at Bella Collina for years, since her Ritz-Carlton days xoxoxox
