Monarch Beach Resort-Club 19 wedding

Ok, not the best photos as I never got any from the photographer and i was doing a wedding up in LA whileNicole was doing this one and she is always busy and forgets to take photos for me, lol, so i think Darla her assistant that day snapped these for me, but they showed different elements i wanted to share.

I liked the pop of color on the gazebo at Botanical Garden, the Bistro lights over the outdoor dining patio of Club 19, and as they ended up with more guests than they planned for two tables had to be placed inside Club 19 which with the newer open doors to the patio helped it not seem like two different areas, and it shows the cool light fixture inside Club 19 over the dancefloor.  Chairs/dancefloor and lighting were done by my partner TMMPRO  xoxox

LA River Center Wedding

From the minute they came to meet with me i loved them.  Brianna knew the style of venue they wanted but had not found it, so hired me to help them, and guess what after researching probably 50 or more locations, i found it and i knew it the minute i saw pics on the web.  We arranged to meet one Saturday morning, i have to be honest getting off the freeway i was like, oh dear who is going to want their guests to drive around here, we were very much on the outskirts of downtown LA, but the minute i walked in i knew it was it and once Brianna and Parker arrived, i could tell by the happiness in her face too.

Everything was outdoors.  We had the guests arrive and mingle in a side courtyard, then invited them to the main courtyard when it was time for the ceremony, then the guests went back to the side courtyard for cocktails lead by mariachis (via Essense Entertainment, my normal guys were already booked) while the ceremony site was flipped by the rental (Signature) and catering (Summit Events) companies.  Then dinner/dancing was done in the main courtyard which went from daytime to night and was quite magical.

The B&G and families and a good amount of guests all stayed in Pasadena, so we had a coach to bring them and then take them back after which worked out well, thanks to Strack Transport that i use, great variety of really nice vehicles.

Thanks to Sarah Mack Photography for the pics above, and to my normal partners that go wherever we may be having a wedding, Design Visage for hair/makeup, EBD Floral and Vive Entertainment/Peter for the mceeing and dinner/dancing music.  xoxoxo

Destination wedding – England to S CA

I am so lucky, i get so many destination weddings coming into S CA and a lot of times there will be Australian’s or New Zealanders as guests or the B&G or in the bridal party, which makes me feel right at home, or sometimes lovely English folks (I am 1/4 English my mum’s dad was fully English) like this wedding.  Mother of the bride and i did all the arrangements via email (which i do with a lot of USA couples, so not weird for me) and they were so pleased with how things turned out.  The mum’s wore their fascinators, which i love to see at a wedding!!

Excuse my iPhone pics which i did not crop before putting on here, but their photographer was a friend from England and he promised to get me pics but never did, so you are stuck with mine, sorry, lol.  There were fancy balloons attached to each centerpiece because the bride loves balloons, we had a donut wall for after dinner and it was just a lot of fun had by all, including me!!!

TMMPRO totally transforms the Fountain Room with the draping/dancefloor and lighting yay.  The beautiful cake was by Sweet Traders, one of the cake partners included in the Hyatt HB wedding package.

Monarch Beach Resort Destination Wedding

Well from the getgo Cynthia said to me, this will be a fun/relaxed celebration, nothing formal and we weren’t going to do formal table place settings, all of which I know sounds great but as the day gets closer you realise and I explain, that may not be understood by the guests.  So we did keep it fun and informal, the groom’s brother was the officiant, but we did relent and ensure there were place settings for majority of the guests and outside had some tall tables in case the men wanted to hang out there where the food was and eat/chat.  Ceremony was at Botanical Garden, cocktails were at the edge of Grand Lawn, then food stations on the lawn outside the wine cellar (and they had the 2 rooms there so they were not bothering anyone) and dancing was inside the Wine Cellar.  We had a sweetheart table for them, but can’t say I ever saw them sit there, lol, and instead of a wedding cake they had a variety of flavors of bundt cakes, which everyone loved!!

Everyone including the B&G flew in and spent multi nights at the hotel, which meant everyone was nicely relaxed and ready to parteeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Great vendor team on board, thanks Frank Salas for the photos above, Design Visage for hair/makeup, Jim Veta for guitar at ceremony and cocktails, Peter/Vive Entertainment for the mceeing/djing in the wine cellar, and EBD Floral team for always making my bride’s visions a reality, and of course to the team at Monarch Beach Resort, we love working with you all xoxoxox

Bella Collina wedding

Oh how i love a Bella Collina Golf Club wedding, the best kept secret in south OC I always say and we are fortunate to have done a few there now.  From the beautiful ceremony backdrop, to the ampitheatre seating for the ceremony to the exclusivity feel you get, especially when you are the only thing happening there later in the evening, I love it.

For Catherine’s wedding she wanted it all outdoors and that was a first for me, and thank goodness mother nature took care of her and it all happened exactly as planned, again the beauty is, being the only event there if the weather had not behaved, we could have moved inside, whew!!

Catherine’s parents were at each meeting and just a lovely family.  The tasting was amazing thanks to Karen the Queen of Bella Collina.

The driveway is fabulous, just like driving down a driveway in Tuscany to get to the main villa or winery you may be visiting or staying at, and here they provide a golf cart and driver to take you all over the grounds after the ceremony to get the great pics.

Great vendor team on board, thanks to Gina Purcelle for the lighter pics above, the darker ones are mine, lol, my first wedding with Jack Farmer/dj-mcee and what a great job he did-he had that dancefloor packed, wedding cake by Simply Sweet Cakery, coach transport-how we got the guests up/back so drinking was not an issue-through Stack Ground-they have beautiful vehicles all sizes, Signature Party Rentals for all the tables/chairs/dancefloor you see, and Devynn’s Gardens for the lovely floral that worked with the theme beautifully, and to Karen and the team at Bella Collina, love being there and working with you all.  xoxoxxo

Ritz-Carlton Laguna Monarch Bay/Plaza Room wedding

We love a Monday wedding, not only do we get to work on a day we normally would not be, but generally speaking, the wedding couple and guests feel like they are the only thing going on in the pm or at the hotel, it’s wonderful!!

Linda loved acrylic, so take a look, we had rental chairs one style for the ceremony and a different style in the Plaza Room, bravo Linda!!  They found their photographer Davello Photography and very nice he was, Grace Lin did the hair and makeup, always good to see her, EBD Floral did the beautiful florals/brought the vision to life as always, and… this was the first time i had done the ground sparkler cans which we used for their exit, it involved paying for a permit and a fireperson to be there to oversee, but the guests loved it.  Thanks to the Ritz-Carlton Laguna as always for everything xoxox

In case you are wondering about the bottom pic, well that is me with Jack who owns TMMPRO where i get my dancefloors/decals, chairs/B&G sofas, lighting, draping, mirror tables etc through and i normally don’t get to see him as he is a very successful dj in the Asian community and normally not available when i ask, but being a Monday, he was available and he did the rentals and all the music for me on this one, that was fun!!

Intimate Surf & Sand wedding

This was a wonderful intimate wedding celebration with one of the best views here in the OC, for 18 people.  Paige and her groom had a history with the Surf & Sand hotel but when she had been looking on her own for a venue, she didn’t know the questions to ask etc, so had found me and booked me to help her plan her wedding elsewhere.  When i was asking questions it always came back to Surf & Sand, so i asked her how flexible they were, would they do a Mon-Thursday, she had never thought about it, but why not!!  So i reached out to S&S and of course it all worked out and she got the wedding she had dreamed of.

After the ceremony while the guests had cocktails at the side of the ceremony area and the B&G/family were down on the beach taking photos, we turned the ceremony area into the dining area.  They had a beautiful dinner under the bistro lighting that my TMMPRO guys did for me as well as other rentals, then after dinner they danced until they were done!  They had all the rooms around the ceremony site which meant they could go until 10pm and were not bothering anyone else.  Paige was a very very happy lady!!

t

Love a weeknight wedding and you normally get the best teams, which we did for Paige also, Jim of Jim Kennedy Photography, Design Visage prettied up our bride, Simply Sweet Cakery for the cake, EBD Floral team, and a musician that the B&G enjoy at a bar, Brian Stodart who provided all the music, he plays guitar, has a backtrack and sings, he was fabulous and i have now added him to my preferred vendor list!! And Paul Uhlar who officiated, he has the best voice for a ceremony and adds just the right amount of humor when it is needed to break the ice for the couple and the guests.  xoxoxox

A Pasea Huntington Beach Hotel Wedding

Well this was a fun wedding.  Allan and Timothy had it all planned and just needed someone to cross the ts and dot the i and run/oversee it on the day, so about a month prior i started working with them.  They had friends handling all the normal vendor areas, they were either really vendors or someone who could do what they needed and the couple got the liability insurance on their behalf.  It all worked out aok

Another wedding with a mixture of round and rectangle tables.

Writing this takes me back to my very first gay wedding ever, when i was at Disney, two really nice guys but this is back in the 90s and we had to do the ceremony inside so hotel guests did not see it and it wasn’t legal at that time either.  We made it happen for them, but how sad is that whole scenario, thank goodness times have changed and love is love

Waterfront Hilton Wedding Celebration

We probably do a wedding every 5 years at this hotel and when this family and i sat down to get a feel for the vision/style they were wanting, i knew immediately the new ballroom in the new addition of Waterfront Hilton would be perfect.  The parents of the Groom booked me to handle a wedding reception party here in CA for their friends/family that would not be travelling to Baltimore where the traditional Indian wedding celebration was to be held a few weeks earlier (we ended up going to Baltimore and handling the grooms events/hospitality for them there also, but that’s another blog).  I have another Indian family right now i am working with on only the Groom’s events also, so maybe this is turning into a new market for me??!!

The Groom’s mom has great style and vision and I pulled the perfect team together to make it happen for them, they were so pleased.  She loved everything so much, she keeps in touch with me and 2 months ago, 2 years after we did these events, she reached out to see if i needed help as she would love to work with me on weddings.  Love it!!

We had lots of fun elements that had people oohing and aahing.  We brought a live wedding painter down from San Francisco and they were thrilled with the end result.  we started her outside and she finished the painting in the ballroom, she caught all the elements in the painting, it was awesome  http://www.taliakoval.com.  We had a Taj Mahal martini luge which was popular for the drinks and as a backdrop for selfies, by Carving Ice.  We had a photo booth, my go to Viralbooth OC/Shanna works with whatever i need, always customs timing etc for me

We did a mixture of rectangle and round tables in the ballroom and even their sweetheart table had their stage behind them and because we did my favourite round dancefloor from TMMPRO with an awesome decal and he did the lighting, we had curved tables each side of B&G for their grandparents and parents which i thought was just lovely

Thanks to Joe Latter photography for the photos, wish we had of had you come to Baltimore, they would have been much happier and got what they needed with you there!!   Hair and makeup by Dolled up by Lulu’s team, Wedding cake by Sweet Traders, Music was by Amit/3 D Sounds, my fave Indian dj company, we used his huge LED screen which was great, florals by EBD Floral, Karla always listens with her heart and pours more into any event of mine than just flowers, and of course the team at Waterfront Hilton lead by Vanessa who i have known for probably 15 or more years – a true professional. xoxoxo
