Ritz-Carlton Laguna Destination Wedding

How i get so lucky to have couples like Simon and Colleen, i don’t know but i sure appreciate it.  They were fab.  Total destination wedding, they live in NY (as do a lot of my couples) and they had guests from all over the world come in.  Steve is Australian so it was nice to hear some downunder accents, lol, but New Zealanders (me) and Aussies do sound different, trust me!!!  We were involved with them for a couple of days, from overseeing the food/beverage in their suite which was open to all guests as they arrived/day prior, to a lovely dinner in the wine cave at Luciana’s in Dana Point (a lot of my couples do pre wedding dinners/get togethers there, some buying out the whole restaurant) the night prior.

Silver was the theme, and i loved that Colleen wanted to go the whole way, silver dancefloor and linens, and we did rectangle tables for all (I had done that a couple of years earlier for my lovely Crystal Clark/bride) it really transformed the Plaza Room

We did phone interviews with the vendors they selected and they were thrilled with how everything turned out.  Thanks to Joe Latter Photographer, TMMPRO for the draping/rentals as always, Luxe Linens, Flowers by Cina team, and my ride or die dj/mcee for the past 16 years for the music in all areas, Peter/Vive Entertainment, and of course….. couldn’t do a thing without the best hotel partners a girl could have, the ladies and gentlemen at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, i have been working with them/been on their preferred vendor list since 2001!!!

Till next time

Hyatt HB wedding – Vista Ballroom

I had been looking forward to this wedding for many reasons, i loved the couple and it would be my first sofreh on CA Courtyard, had done Lighthouse Lawn before, but most of all, the bride and my dream was to carpet the Vista Ballroom, and we did, thanks to Above the Top Rentals who did an excellent job.  Add to that the draping/round dancefloor/sweetheart sofa/lighting by TMMPRO, it all turned out fabulously xoxo

Till next time

Ritz Laguna Wedding

This was one of the first weddings after the astroturf was put down on Monarch Bay Sunset Lawn.  Looks awesome and all the questions about ladies heels and the grass stopped, yayy, lol.

Ritz-Carlton Laguna Wedding by Nicole

Sometimes i am already booked for a date when i get a call, or to keep costs down couples are happy to have me plan/detail everything out and then have one of my Day of Co-ordinator’s run/oversee the event on the day.  In 19 years of business i have only had 5 ladies i have trusted to be Day of Co-ordinators and run things as i would, and i get great feedback always from the hotels and couples that all was as if i was there!!  In this case, i was already booked so Nicole oversaw this one with the assistance of Brittany.

Thanks to Katie Edwards Photo for the pics above.

Hotel Maya Indian Wedding

My first wedding at Hotel Maya was years ago and i will always remember them because the groom was a fellow New Zealander and I loved the view they had from their ballroom balcony looking across to Long Beach at night, reminded me of looking at Manhattan.  For this wedding, i left a wedding at the Ritz Santa Barbara the night prior so i didn’t get to stay up there and enjoy which was my original plan, but once i got back to Hotel Maya and this couple and got things going, i was very happy to be there.  Do what you love and it will seem like you never work a day in your life, right!!!

I have done 3 Indian weddings here at Hotel Maya now, it really is the perfect layout and when you have multi day events you can have everything on site and the guests will never be bored, plus the room rates are great and there are other hotels next door and across in Long Beach, giving lots of rate options for your guest’s varying budget/styles.

So of course we started with the baraat and our groom was on a horse going along the waterfront, Milni was done at the entrance to the cere area where they have some great gates that frame it well and then the ceremony setup is fabulous (and we get the brides room in the block next to it, so for hair/makeup/sari changes we waste little time), cocktails are done at the back of the cere area and the hotel  staff take the ceremony chairs away and suddenly we have a huge area for cocktails, then into the fabulous Pavilion where 2 walls are windows (the main side looking across to that gorgeous Long Beach view at night) and the back wall is perfect for draping.  Great vendor team on board, Greycard Photo (who i have done a lot of Indian weddings with), Duc/Avec Luminaire for video, Lulu for hair/makeup, Amit/3D Sounds my fave guy/group of guys to work with for Indian weddings from baraat/milni/cere/dinner/dance mceeing/dohl player/lighting and music the guests love/good mix-he knows how to read an Indian crowd and based on where they come from in Indian is well versed with the types of Indian music they like – he knows his stuff. 3 Petals did the florals and draping behind the B&G stage and my TMMPRO guys did the dancefloor/stage cover/chairs as normal oxoxox.  Now we were not doing the canopies for the cere seating for the guests originally but about 4 days prior the bride’s dad panicked after hearing the weather report and said, get em.  So thanks to John/OCLA Rentals he stepped right up and made it happen, yayyyy.  And to Kristina and the team at Hotel Maya, love working with them.

Santa Barbara – Ritz-Carlton wedding

I love being a part of the Ritz-Carlton family when it comes to weddings!!  This is my 5th Ritz property i have done a wedding at, and in 2020 i will be adding my 6th property, for a bit i thought i may be adding my 7th this year but alas not quite yet!! lol

Amanda and Jordan really lucked out (and they were just the sweetest BTW), when they booked the property was not a Ritz, but during the process it became a Ritz, so they got all the benefits of a 5 star brand but were contracted based on the previous owner/rates etc, yay for them, lol.

So we did the ceremony at the upper site which gives such a great backdrop of the sweeping coastline, pic above

The iconic round room, we did transitioned from outdoor dining/toasts, to the guests gathering around them in the mid area cutting cake and saying their words, then flowed into the dance room where of course we did my fave round dancefloor, Amanda wanted the ceiling draped from the beginning, and lighting all done by my TMMPRO pals.

The balcony with the furniture was off the dancing room and this is where we had the Photobooth.  Very popular area for people to hang out at and see in to the dancing room and not feel like they were missing out on anything

Cocktails were on the balcony up by the main building, under where the dinner/dance would be.  Still had an ocean view which was lovely.

The team at Ritz-Carlton Santa Barbara were a dream to work with, and now they are headed by my long time hotel friend Fernanda Jaime (started with her at Ritz Laguna and have now been through 3 hotels with her, yayyy), and we had a great vendor team, Duke (obviously the dark pics above are mine not his), Hoos Films for video, and my partners that go with me wherever i go, Design Visage for the ladies hair/makeup, Flowers by Cina, and Peter Pop/Vive Ent for the music in all areas and kept that dancefloor full once we got in that awesome loungy room. xoxoxo
