Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach, Huntington Ballroom – 2011

Another great year for the very popular Huntington Ballroom at the Hyatt HB.  It’s popular because it holds anywhere from 180-300 quite nicely and has a lovely balcony looking out to the famous HB surf.  My ladies and I were fortunate to see this ballroom come together in a few different ways again, I picked a couple here where the majority of the centerpieces were high, due to the high ceiling and the ‘big’ feel of the ballroom, low centerpieces get quite lost.  If you are doing a mixture of high/low, this is one ballroom you need to do more high than low or have the low be different height containers with floating candles, something that makes it seem different/adds to the feel of the room.  You will notice that the cake is on a table on the ground, I normally have the cake be about 20′ in from the entrance doors (I do the entrance from the balcony not the foyer which is different to everyone else) and depending on how you feel, either you are against the wall facing the walls/ocean/cake, or the cake is there and your table is inbetween the entrance doors, if if you have a band then the band is against the wall and you or the cake are on a riser between the entrance doors and then your cake or yourselves are on the ground infront of it.  I like centering the focus so all the guests feel as close/as important as each other.  Here are just a couple of them as well as a ceremony shot with the ceremony angled to the sunset direction…

Thanks to Harvard Photography for the bottom photos of Gigi’s wedding.

The advantage that you have with our services at the Hyatt HB is that we are one of the few that have been referred and on the pre3ferred vendor list since the day the hotel opened, so myself and my ladies know the office staff/banquet team very well and we all work well together.  This has allowed me to offer one of my ladies, Peni, Teri or Holly for a lesser fee to orchestrate the actual wedding day itself, if you are trying to stick to a lower budget/fee for a planner, or if I am already booked on your day time, offer tham  as an alternate to again orchestrate the actual wedding day.  So it’s a win win for you the couple no matter where you lie in those options.  With us you have confidence and comfort in knowing we have been doing this a long time, know your property and the staff well.

Till next time

Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa

I was invited by Sandy and the team to come on over and see how things looked after the multi million dollar renovation was complete.

Wow, what a shock.  This hotel has done a 360 from the nautical old/tired yet comfy feel, to a very hip/cool atmosphere both inside and out.  I seem to always have some guests stay here when I have weddings at hotels close by and they definately won’t be disappointed or feel like they are at a lesser hotel now, and after many years where they had a great wedding program, then due to losing people with the passion and going through the changes and the property not keeping up with all those around, it seems that the new team and look of the property together is reviving life up at the Marriott on the hill.  I am even more pleased that I saw it when I did, because one of  my couples for 2012 were booked elsewhere, the groom saw this property and cancelled the other hotel and now I have a wedding I will be doing here, been way too long.

And add to this, the spa facility which I think is just fabulous for ‘girls pre wedding get togethers’ utilising the outside courtyard with fireplace and lounging room, which is available to any one to book and use, even if you aren’t having your wedding here,  call and speak to the Spa manager about booking that area for your group.  They will bring the food/beverages in, and not to forget mentioning, the massages and treatments are really really good too!!!

Till next time
